I’m not a fussy guest, but this is the first time I leave a bad review on Trip.com.
This hotel is overpriced compared to other hotels located in the same building. We booked this hotel after seeing many recommendations on Xiaohongshu. After this trip, we found these recommendations appear misleading and possibly paid promotions, so future guests should be cautious.
Our experience:
• First room: broken tiles, rusty metal fixtures, and a dirty, oily bathtub. The room was far from what was shown in the listing photos.
• Second room (claimed as an “upgrade”): the door could not be locked from the inside, which made us feel unsafe.
• Third room: broken refrigerator (which spoiled our cake) and damaged bathroom flooring that caused a minor foot injury.
After multiple room changes, we were exhausted and decided to tolerate the remaining issues just to continue our trip.
But What happened next was unacceptable. The staff told us the room was an “upgrade” and claimed they could not change it in the system due to a higher price. Then asked us to cancel the Trip.com booking and rebook offline. This raised immediate red flags, and we refused. After some back-and-forth, they finally revealed their real concern: they asked us not to leave a bad review.
This behavior felt dishonest and unethical. It gave us the impression that the hotel attempts to avoid negative reviews rather than fix the real problems, potentially misleading future guests.
We also used the hotel’s doorstep laundry service. Despite the “Do Not Disturb” sign being on, staff knocked and then opened our room door and entered within seconds to return the laundry. This was extremely uncomfortable and raised serious privacy concerns, especially considering someone could have been changing clothes.
Some staff members were polite, and the location is excellent, right in front of Raffles Tower, with a nice view. However, the management lacks transparency and integrity, which overshadows these positives. The building itself houses many different hotel operators (about 20), making it confusing, and requires multiple elevators to reach the room. After checking out, we stayed at another Hotel within the same building, which cost about 1/4 of the price and the experience are far better.
Overall, poor value for money, misleading marketing, multiple maintenance problems, and serious privacy concerns. I would not recommend this hotel.
