Drifter Christchurch

This was the best hostel I've ever stayed in! I heard the 8-person rooms are more spacious than the 4-person ones, but even the 4-person room wasn't so small that I couldn't open my suitcase, so I appreciated having a quiet space to myself. It's also rare to find a hostel with an in-room bathroom, which was a pleasant surprise. What's even better are the common areas. The study room is great for Zoom meetings, and the kitchen area is fantastic! I asked the reception if they had wine glasses since there weren't any, and they kindly lent me some.

This hotel is right next to the central bus station and connects to a super chic bar. You can quickly access your room using your phone by just clicking on the link the hotel sends you. Though it was a bit confusing to find my way when I first arrived, the staff were very patient and helpful. The hotel offers a fantastic variety of activities, with something different every day, and the common lounge area is spacious and comfortable.

Checking in was a bit of a hassle as we had to fill out an electronic form at the entrance. It would have been much smoother if we could have just done it directly with the front desk staff to speed things up. The hotel uses an electronic management system instead of physical keys, but it was hard to find the website for it. The toiletries were a high-end Antipodes brand, which was a nice touch. The best part is definitely the excellent location, super convenient for catching the Intercity bus.

The hotel is super convenient, about a five-minute walk from the bus interchange, making it easy to get to all of Christchurch's attractions on foot. The front desk staff were warm and attentive. The room was a bit small, but well-designed and functional, as well as clean and tidy.
