Hotels near Port Hills, Christchurch

I stayed for a week in the downstairs unit facing the street. I was worried about road noise but it was fine although I think the road noise from Fitzgerald Ave was louder although no worse than any other motel near a main road. Otherwise the motel was well appointed and had eveything I needed including a bath. Unit well insulated and nice and cool on very hot days and nights. Good air flow from door and deck sliding door when I needed it. No instructions for heat pump (tricky to operate) and while I could have asked I found the instructions online. A big bonus was having my car under cover. Towels etc changed every day and bed tidied. Electrical plugs in all the right places for charging etc. A relatively easy 15 minute walk to town centre and bus hub. I will definitely be back although I can't speak for the other rooms.

The hotel is located next to the tram station and shares a common passage with the tram station. The experience is amazing. The room is large and has an all-in-one washer and dryer for easy laundry. You need to swipe your room card to get on the elevator. It feels safe. The garage is not large and does not require swiping your room card to enter. Parking costs 20 dollars a day. Very close to the city center and within walking distance

I stayed at this hotel again principally because it is an Accor property in the CBD (as I am an ALL Platinum) - but that is really about it. The hotel is passable for what one expects of a Novotel, but it is getting quite dated and the carpet stains in the room are too pointed a reminder of the hotel's age. The bed is soft and the generous number of pillows and cushions make for a very comfy night in. While it is in the CBD, it is a fair walk from most places of note in the city. Since my previous visit, the reception staff have improved in service and manner. I was disappointed that as I left a shirt in my room's cupboard, I had to call a few times to follow up on its search as the promised return call did not come until I called again (the shirt was never found). What is most disappointing is the restaurant. While the quality of the food is acceptable, it is quite overpriced for Christchurch and the restaurant's setting. Despite only having a handful of tables for dinner, I had to approach the wait staff when I wanted a table, to order, get a drink, or receive the check. Similarly, the bar staff are not as proactive as one may expect to come to tables and take drink orders, even when one is the only patron at the bar. My biggest complaint is the breakfast. On one of the mornings I even had to set my own table. Empty juice dispensers are not refilled for quite some time; the only eggs served are scrambled, the only non-meat ”hot” offering are potatoes and beans. Perhaps there is is a concern that some patrons are allergic to tomatoes, green leaves, salad, vegetables, and mushrooms? After two nights I moved to another hotel in Christchurch and am much happier.

Comfortable hotel in Heart of City. Booked a room using points as a Gold Elite. Requested quiet room and was appointed 3rd floor over traffic lights so receptionist kindly moved me to a room on opposite side. It was quiet however the walls are thin and I can hear a lot of noise this morning - a lot of noise. Room service eggs were excellent, as was bar service last night. They know how to make a good drink. I was a bit annoyed as mini bar knocked this am and said she thought there was “no one in the room” whilst I was on a call. Not so professional. Can recommend as a good hotel in Christchurch (I’ve stayed in quite a few)

The room is very good and very new, very close to the city center, very clean, the facilities are very comprehensive, you can cook, the front desk service is also very good, there is parking space, there is a supermarket nearby, two rooms and one living room are very suitable for family travel.

Room was very comfortable and clean. good facilities. TV was amazing. Lots to choose from on it. Microwave for cooking supplied. Fridge also. Washing facilities if required and all Free! Staff were amazing. So very accommodating. Listening to all your needs and running with all your requirements. Very friendly team. Beds are very comfortable. Situated within walking distance of hospital and lots of places to eat around as well. A mall is not far away. Prices to stay were excellent.

The loveliest - particular thanks to Sam - front desk staff (and efficient too). Excellent location, only a short walk to the centre, and very pleasant if you go through the park. There is also a bus stop directly outside; it will take you to the centre, or go to the bus station and take a trip to Sumner or Lyttleton - both worth a visit. Rooms are spacious and clean, beds comfortable. For some reason though, complimentary water and crisps only appeared on our first day! Useful to have a guest laundry, but be warned there is only one machine for all floors... The kitchen area is fine, but not for those who want to cook up a storm - you need to ask for pots and pans. Not a problem for us as we preferred to eat out (try Rangoon Ruby nearby, good, if somewhat 'neutralized' flavours, as the waitress herself put it!) . Overall a really pleasant stay in a very interesting city.

A big Thank you to Sue and David for an excellent comfortable 3 night stay at Rosewood Court. Very friendly hosts and everything was spotless and very comfortable. We were made very welcome from the moment we arrived. Sue helped us use the onsite laundry facilities. Well equipped kitchen, comfortable bed and loved the spa bath at the end of the day sightseeing. Because I checked in very late. But the hotel staff is very nice. I know we haven't had dinner yet. Specifically asked the kitchen to wait for us. Otherwise we would go to bed hungry.
