Really love the hotel. Very suitable for traveller. There is kitchen for cooking with complete all the aminities. They also provide space to hang out with friends and family. Very near as in 15-20 minutes away from the hotel.

Excellent location to explore Christchurch attractions. Very clean and well appointed room for an excellent price (I was wondering what It may be getting into). The room quality was a 3+ star for US standards. The only negative is the lack of parking (only offstreet parking or may have to drive a block away for parking). The clean room, friendly staff and excellent location and the overall niceness of Christchurch and it's people in general made us quickly get over the initial stress of trying to find a place to park. DATE OF TRAVEL: July 2023 Stayed here for 10 days on a business trip. Room and bathroom was great but the beds are awful. They are not attached to a bed head and are an ensemble base only so they move around. I had a better sleep in a motel in Timaru, which is a shame because working 10 hour days, staying in a 5* hotel, one would think you'd sleep like a baby. Fortunately the shower's high pressure and the bath were great, Apart from that, the hotel grounds is beautiful with ample parking. My room had a veranda which I liked to sit on and watch the traffic go by. I had requested a microwave so as to meal prep due to my diabetes and this was in there prior to check in which was great. Hotel is just around the corner from a heap of restaurants and Westfield Ricccarton and right next to Hagley Park which was great for a morning walk. In room dining was fine, nothing special. I tried the breakfast buffet in the restaurant on the Saturday and it was lacklastre. Didn't end up going back. Plenty of cafes around anyway. All up, I rate my stay there 4*. The facilities were great, the requests were met eagerly and the bathroom was fantastic. The room itself is really well appointed but the bed is awful which detracts a star. I'd stay there again with my wife though, maybe bring some *****s to attach to the bed legs to stop them from moving around though!

Accommodation is good. My criticism of the hotel is the customer service in the bar. Tiny pours of wine, barman kept calling me (female business traveller) ”dear” - didn't point out that the beer I ordered in happy hour (after I enquired which drinks were discounted) was not included in happy hour....As a lone female business traveller I want to feel welcome, not patronised. The whole point of hospitality staff is that they are hospitable and your staff seemed to not have really grasped how to do that. I frequently stay at Accor hotels and love the friendliness of the staff - (Pullman Rotorua is an example of excellent customer service). Christchurch was an anomaly.

Beautiful and quiet courtyard, complete kitchen facilities, and convenient living around. Especially the Korean bosses are warm and kind and responsible for their work. One day, my husband answered the phone in the yard, accidentally put his bag on the stool in the yard and left. Our passports, ID cards and other important things were all inside. Twenty minutes later, we found out that the bag was gone, and we were in a hurry. When the domestic epidemic was tense and international flights were cancelled again, we would be unable to move without a passport. We told the Korean boss about this, he asked about the situation, let us not worry. Ten minutes later, he delivered the bag to our room. There were a lot of passports and cash in the bag. We are very fortunate to book this hotel, and met this honest and kind Korean owner, who is away from home, this hotel is trustworthy. Call the owner!

Similar to a previous review I was very disappointed and the main issue I believe is that many of the information sites are falesly advertising that Parking is available on site,. At the back inside the house is: A tiny room approx 2 and 1/4 metres wide; L shape. On my second night I could not sleep as a large window high above the bed to the left ( over one metre wide by one foot high) was stuck and wide open all night. A strong cold wind began around 11pm and too high to shut even when I stood on the couch and I am quite tall. The wind caused the blind to beat against the wall all night. Then at 3am the smoke alarm started beeping so I spent all night with the TV ON to pass the time. I asked the owner for a refund for one of the nights for this bad experience but none forthcoming. There was a lot of voices coming from the owners room through the door in the next room at times. The bathroom was down a passage where I was unable to shut that window also; it appeared to be an old window type as I (on my own and over 75) couldn't move the hinges. I stayed at motels the same week for the same price. $150 night. Wonderful I felt like I was out of Jail. Many travel sites for this guest house say FREE PRIVATE PARKING IS AVAILABLE ON SITE. This is not true. The owner told me that I could not park ON SITE. I cannot stress that: Parking was a huge problem as the metal locked driveway gate was for private use only I was told and the roadside on one side had time limits. On such a busy area with two cafes next door I had to keep circling the block and finally parked some distance away. This guest house does not welcome guests who take on this room to a kitchen or lounge or provide breakfast or meals. When I finally found a park I had to make 3 trips with belongings and food. Tourists especially from overseas need to be aware of this and also this major parking issue. Public Holidays are even WORSE to find a park which could be kms away. A very low couch was side on to the Tv. There were no table or chairs, to eat your food on or sit your coffee on. Just a wardrobe with a toaster, microwave, fridge and jug. The bed head board was not attached to the bed and banged against the wall. This room was around the back inside the house that looked out on their private driveway and garage. There was no comfort staying in this space during the day even though I needed rest. Lots of improvements needed here and a big reduction from $150 per night. A welcome pack would have been great showing a map of Sumner with cafes etc., especially for first time overseas visitors or New Zealanders

The front desk service was good and the room conditions were good, but the equipment was a bit old. Because there are a lot of bugs in the suburbs, remember to close the window at night. The location is very good, just next to the main street.

My room was not cleaned up despite me putting up a door notice for housekeeping for the day. When I returned to my room in the evening, I was told to my surprise that my booking did not include housekeeping. The website of Breakfree at Cashel mentioned housekeeping is available. I was not informed that my booking omitted this service. Furthermore, I was told to collect new towels by myself at the counter. I just don't feel the hotel is not up to the mark in this aspect. Other things I am not quite happy about is that the room space is too small for easy packing and unpacking of my luggage but I suppose I get what I paid for, which is ok. I have decided to move to other hotel for the rest of my journey in Christchurch for the above reasons .

The Ibis Christchurch has a cute boutique feel to it. Security is great as the front door locks at 10 pm and you use your room key to get in. My room had a fridge, kettle, walled toiletries, and a/c (hurray!). For some reason I got an accessible room on different floors on both hotel stays. The bathroom is huge, but I can’t see a wheelchair in the bedroom section as it was a bit tight near the bed. The bed was comfortable & the room was clean. Breakfast was the usual fare of hash brown, mushrooms, tomatoes, scrambled eggs, sausage, ham, baked goods, cereal, fruits & juices. I love the coffee machine. Our tour had dinner at the hotel that consisted of fruit salad, minestrone soup, chicken in mushroom sauce, baked ziti, and veggies which were decent. I am not sure if the restaurant is usually open for dinner and what their menu consist of. The staff during breakfast was friendly and attentive. Location of the hotel is perfect as it is near everything, especially Riverside Market. There is a mini mart & souvenir shop next door, as well as a little metro supermarket 5 minutes away on Lichfield Street.

We stayed at the hotel for 4 nights just recently, first arrived at the hotel, the reception was polite enough but not as helpful as any front desk staff coud be. The room was clean and comfy, location was fantastic, environment was superb (quite, few hote guests). But somehow my wife lost her wedding ring from our room. We only noticed by the end of the day, and should have picked up earier. Mr. ************, the hotel manager, made it even worse from a travellers point of view. He has the worse attitude to the whole incident, instead of offering his empathy, he pushed responsibility back to the hotel guests who lost the wedding ring in his room at his hotel. His passive aggression is throughout all the poor google review! He reacted bluntly when questioned about CCTV other than the door access record he could provide immediately, being agreesive at his answer and attitude towards to someone who turned over the room to just look for the missing ring. He was not friendly, empathatic nor welcoming despit he is in hospitality industry. Im not blaming at anyone here or making any accusation on anyone but he as the hotel manager was the only one we could seek help for in a foreign country, and he expected us undedstanding how police and system worked here. To us, he made us sound like *****s and being forgetful on our own properties.
