The oldest Hotel in Englands oldest recorded town. The Best Western Rose and Crown Hotel, originally a 14th century posting house, lovingly restored to a modern day hotel. Nine executive rooms featuring flat screen LCD televisions, air-conditioning, laptop charging safes and premium quality fixtures and furnishings. Alternatively, choose from the historic oak beamed rooms in the original house, or the more contemporary rooms in the main building. Decent enough hotel if a little old fashioned. The reception and staff were all helpful friendly and professional. Rooms were rather dated but had all the usual amenities , we stayed in the separate block opposite the entrance unfortunately all the boy racers seem to use the road outside the hotel grounds as a racetrack so on a Saturday night it was noisy. The beds were good , shower ok, TV good and the room size was better than most. Finally the parking was good and secure.

It's hard to put into words. There's no elevator, so if you have luggage, definitely stay on the first floor. No air conditioning either. Not many people seem to stay here. I won't be coming back.

Note from my engineer - This hotel was great, it offered large parking which was spacious enough for a large van and the rooms were extremely clean.
