Taj Samudra, Colombo

This is a nice hotel that has lots of history and is in a great location near to the old fort and Victoria Park. I was a bit surprised that the staff do not say hello to customers, but I guess that's a feature of a big hotel. The breakfast is excellent and the gym is unlike anything I've seen in a hotel - a real selling point! The beds are nice and the curtains good at blocking out light - so you can get a good night of sleep. It is quite difficult to walk to the street - the front entrance is for cars only and the back entrance is underwhelming. The room also smelled a bit damp, which might be linked to the age of the property. Overall, a good stay

Absolutely loved the Taj. Central location with views of the ocean and the galle face green. Walking distance to the shopping center and all of the other hotels along the strip. Markets a short walk away.

Great location, close to a lot of restaurants, cafes, bars, and One Galle Face Mall. The hotel is well kept albeit old. The pool is great. Beautiful and cozy lobby and cafe. The greatest of all is the staff. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. Taj Samudra is the perfect home away from home whenever in Colombo. Will definitely stay here again.
