Hotel Janaki

Convenient place , Male Receptionists are very friendly. Hair dryer was out of order, they were unable to fixed it. Breakfast also not bad. But no eggs 😭 Value for money.

Middle of Colombo hotel location is good, and food is not as expected and the service is good

Very good staff . But, toilets are very old and cockroaches are there most of the time.

One of the worst stays in Colombo. No signals or phone coverage to the room. through out the night some creatures on the ceiling running and making loud noises. Dead cockroaches all over and in the bathroom..broken taps in the bathrooms.noisy neighbourhood too.☹️

i visit this hotel every now and then and its a nice place all together. since lately the management has taken over new consultants and a Chef who is spoiling the atmosphere. On a cost effective note the new chef seems to be displaying and serving stale old food from previous days cooking at the buffets specially the morning breakfast. i heard from internal sources of the kitchen that this new chef collects the previous days left over food and mixes it with his bare hands and then stores it in bowls in refrigeration and then heats it the next day and serves it to the guests as a buffet spread. This is bad and i ended up with severe tummy pains on several days during my stays Be careful of the food. The chef is a sweet talker.

Upon arrival, the receptionist was very helpful and pleasant. The staff working at the JANAKI are respectful and happy people, creating a positive environment with their guests. The hotel bar serves lion lager and their range of products in the bar fridge, so plenty to choose from. The breakfast was very tasty, a fish curry, veg fried rice, lentil dhal, potato curry, coconut sambo and variety of pastries were well-cooked, delicately spiced and palatable to metabolise in the morning. The staff were very kind and accommodating. The chef welcomes his guests and is proud to show you his home-cooked delicacies. Overall very happy with our stay at the JANAKI. Thanks JANAKI!

FAWLTY TOWERS Hotel janaki The only positive is the Big rooms Very fawtly towers. Place is falling apart and incredibly dated. 9 out of 10 times the room service will arrive late or for the entirely wrong item, or they will forget a pen for you to sign for it. Rooms are incredibly dated and dirty , and this is not reflected at all in their price which is high for what you get. The pool is very unappealing. No sun loungers around r the pool. No plants. No umbrellas. It also looked dirty. I booked because they have bathtubs. But they don’t have enough hot water to fill the bathtub! So it’s a total wasted facility!! Menu is very poor. Only offering small selection of very spicy food. The quality of a lot of the hotels are like this. Very poor and high priced , very similar to India . And is awful when you compare the quality and price with countries like Thailand and Indonesia.

Hotel location is good. The stay was pleasant and rooms are specious. Rooms are of old type with no cleanliness. Lots of died cockroaches in room. Food is ok and not so great. Did not find amenities. Staff is good and very supportive
