Granbell Hotel Colombo

I checked into the hotel around 8 PM, and immediately noticed the door lock was broken; I couldn't deadbolt it from the inside. I contacted Ctrip customer service, who said they would inform hotel staff to fix it. An hour later, no one had shown up. I contacted Ctrip again, and they said the hotel wasn't answering their calls. I then called the front desk myself, and about 25 minutes later, a technician came to fix it, but he had a terrible attitude. I asked him to call a manager to handle the situation. The manager also had a bad attitude, offering no compensation or apology for the broken lock that couldn't be deadbolted. They kept insisting the lock was just for show and had nothing to do with our safety. After we repeatedly demanded, a higher-level manager came, but still had a terrible attitude and didn't try to calm us down. Their compensation offer was a two-hour late checkout***? This hotel looks down on East Asian women. All three local male staff members had poor attitudes, always trying to argue their way out of problems, never genuinely apologizing, and offering no compensation whatsoever. I recommend that solo travelers or groups of all female companions avoid this hotel.

The room was clean and well-equipped, and the service was good. The only downside was the 9th-floor restaurant; they wouldn't even bring condiments when requested.

The Granbell Hotel is the best value-for-money hotel in Colombo, offering a perfect combination of price, views, service, location, and amenities. When I visit Colombo, I'll definitely keep choosing the Granbell Hotel.
