What a unique experience,1.5 hours by boat to get here, completely tranquil. Our guide ,Alex, was knowledgeable and helpful. Rooms lovely and spacious, surrounded by thick rainforest with beautiful scenery and wildlife

Great hotel, need to get there by boat. Lovely grounds and very close to the ocean. Good breakfast. Rooms a little basic but clean. Only noise was the birds in the morning. Plenty of sun loungers and towels at the pool. Friendly staff.

Lovely hotel, beautiful gardens and pool. Rooms very clean if a little dark. Food was good and lots for us to see in the 2 days we spent here.

Outstanding place. Good food, comfortable rooms within a genuinely delightful setting. A beach to walk to, a laguna to enjoy boat trips through. Most of all Sebastian, quite simply the best tour guide I've come across. Very enjoyable, even with rain and thunder!

This place is spectacular. The rooms were great and the food was good. The pools were beautiful and the staff was wonderful. The canal boating was a great experience to get to the lodge and the wildlife we saw was unbelievable.

This was by far and away the worst place we stayed in our Central America tour. Transfers to and from here were a complete chaos. A small bus picked us up from our hotel in San Jose but we were then left waiting on the side of the road for 40 minutes waiting for a larger coach to arrive and collect us. Due to the heavy rain, the boat dock at Pavona was a quagmire through which we had to carry our own cases to the boat. We eventually arrived at Laguna lodge at 3:30 pm for lunch. Whilst we fully accept the rains had caused road problems which contributed to this, there should be a contingency plan for lunch arrangements. Laguna Lodge rooms are in very basic rows of wooden structures with no windows and no soundproofing. As a result everything was constantly damp and very noisy from other guests. Food in the restaurant (with the exception of the lunchtime salad bar) was very poor with hot food usually cold. All this totally outweighed the facts that the grounds were very nice and it was located on the ocean side of the river. The exception to this criticism was Wally who was brilliant guide and went above and beyond to sort out our transport chaos.

The package made it really easy to get to Tortugero but the listing and hotel could improve how it communicates the details, including transfer pick up and the two tours included. We had to chase the information. Our guide, Humberto, was fantastic. The food was fine but repetitive. Drinks we had to pay for but the cocktails were excellent. We were also put in a dated room that was inconsistent with the photos. Grounds and pool were immaculate.

The weather was heavy rain so our experience was dampened. The gardens were lovely. The rooms very clean. Needed hooks in the room for wet clothing to drip. The pool would have been nice . Food good
