Hotels near Coombe Abbey Country Park, Combe Fields

9 of us ate here for a large family meal. We’d literally travelled from different continents to be there. We had to phone ahead and request the booking be put back 30mins due to traffic jams getting there. Readily agreed. The team of James, Shannon and Sophie looked after us all well. Even provided a guided tour after the meal. Our allergies were catered for and dishes explained. Clearly a lot of money has been spent refurbishing the hall. It’s not cheap, but it’s not a chain restaurant.

Really had high hopes at first glance this hotel has so much promise, being from Coventry originally I'm so glad this iconic building has been transformed and I will say it's been done well in parts however the reason for my star rating is the following. I'm on my second night of two and sadly had to move rooms. I had Room 27 first walk in was a huge Big Double you could easily use this as a family room it was that spacious, the downside and I would soon find out is this room is a connecting room and unfortunately I had very loud neighbours to which let's say I could hear everything. I'm also not the only person too mention this on their reviews. I had to complain about the noise during the night and again in the morning. Room 27 I sadly also found the bed far too soft and had around four hours sleep. Worth a mention that Room 27 over looks the courtyard and again I found that to be quite loud. I'm already feeling drained having travelled 1000's of miles to attend a family funeral. I'm now in Room 315 and what a let down. This is not a Big Double. It has the same lovely touches that go into detail of the hotels history however the room is so small. It's not a connection room and is a corner room which is one thing. I've tried to sleep and can't again the bed is not to a great standard honestly I find premier inn have better quality beds and if it wasn't booked I would of happily of gone there tonight. Upon check out I'm going to ask for a 50% refund and won't settle for less as having no sleep goes along way for anyone during any hotel stay. I would rate the breakfast as 3 / 5 i t was nice enough but nothing special. The staff are friendly enough but sadly with no sleep and some rooms not what you think your getting ie Room 315 is definitely not a Big Double I do feel sold out and I'm just disappointed and drained. Dreading my journey home tomorrow now with no sleep. I will add sense writing this as I booked through a third party and raised my complaints I was spoken too on the room phone by a Manager who had informed me my third party had spoken too them and wanted to know what my complaint was. Once I informed them of the noise and bed quality of both rooms ie the beds they snapped down the phone to me that this is a new hotel and the beds are new. They wouldn't be issuing a refund and basically my complaint was shot down. I have worked for over 25 years in the hotel trade even owning my own business of running successful hotels and bnbs. None of my staff would speak down to a customer in such a manner. They did end the call with see how I get on if I can sleep and speak to them in the morning however my mind is made up. This hotel is being run by monkeys who couldn't manage to peel a banana, let alone run what is meant to be a 4 star hotel. It's a 3 star over all at best with no pool, the poor quality of beds,lacking an average breakfast, is not that of any four star hotel I have been at or run successfully. Lovely welcoming hotel , all staff helpful and resolved any issues quickly, Breakfast a great choice and staff very helpful when things ran out or if you needed any thing additional this was resolved quickly, Shout out to Alex In the restaurant The staff member at leisure club on the Sunday morning , welcoming and helpful Housekeeping who brought the extra towel ended up going going back up get wine glasses as they hadn’t arrived yet , I didn’t ask him too but he was concerned it had got overlooked Rare you get that in hotels these days so will defo be returning

Stayed for a couple of days whilst we visited local historical sites. Room was excellent as was the pool and general facilities. Was surprised the bar evening menu is the same as the main restaurant - seems little point in not availing oneself of the restaurant since it is much nicer and costs nothing more! Many thanks to the bar staff (who sang happy birthday) and Rieann and Ionda in the restaurant for their friendly service.

Stayed here at the weekend with friends; lovely room, enjoyed the evening meal and a fab breakfast. Would recommend. The only downside was that there is a service charge payable on all drinks that you are not notified of. We queried our bar bill as it didn’t make sense and was told by a member of staff that on all purchases a 10% charge is payable. There is no signs up around the bar area notifying you of this. We were told that the staff are not allowed to tell you about this. To me that seems fraudulent. Surely you can’t be charged for something that you don’t know about every time you go up to the bar and purchase a drink? Not sure if the staff get this money or the company. If this is company policy are they breaking the law by not notifying you of this? Please be wary.
