We spent three nights at the hotel at the beginning of our stay in South Africa and three days at the end. The 'suite' we had for the second stay was superior to the first one but both were more than adequate. The service was excellent and the breakfast, on a terrace overlooking the garden, was particularly good. The hotel has a very 'homely' feel.

Stayed for two nights. Unfortunately this is not a 5 star at all. We always willing to pay the extra for 5 star boutique hotel experience this is nowhere near. It’s a large b and b with a basic breakfast offering with small buffet table and limited choice. The breakfast itself is not great. Even coffee espresso machine in room has no sweeteners or closed milks instead a small jar open milk in fridge is supplied very small and fake pods for coffee machine which is confirms this a b b not 5 star offering. Service and staff need training. Rooms are basic but spacious. Rooms Need for revamp for 5 star boutique hotel again the experience vs price- rather do a b and b and save the money or look at alternatives.

Hotel was run down (stains on carpets, tired decor), with no apparent staffing (a maid gave me my key, that was the last I saw of anyone for 3 days), restaurant was closed throughout, and pool not swimmable on account of cleaning equipment floating about. Overpriced.

We stayed 3 nights in constantia for our first few days in Capetown- this is a beautiful place and well located. It’s a little haven of tranquillity in the city where you can relax. Staff are attentive - the breakfast is wonderful and if you want to have dinner it is divine- fantastic quality. We had some great recommendations of things to do and I would recommend here if you like the constantia area - you are so close to some fantastic vineyards and restaurants no more than a 5/10 minute drive away.

Amazing location with fantastic service. Everyone had a smile and were very helpful. The rooms were cleaned everyday and a nice touch, as it it was still cool in the evening, was that they came and turned down the beds and put the electric blankets on and left a chocolate on your pillow.

Our stay at Glen Avon Lodge Boutique Hotel left us with mixed feelings. A major highlight was the exceptionally kind and helpful staff, with whom we enjoyed pleasant morning conversations during breakfast. Their warmth truly added a positive touch to our experience. Unfortunately, the hotel itself feels like it has seen better days. Loose tiles in various parts of the property, including by the pool, and visible wear and tear in the rooms detracted from the overall impression. Additionally, the pool was not always properly maintained, which further diminished our enjoyment of the facilities. Breakfast, while featuring fresh products such as fruits, cheeses, and cold cuts, was monotonous and lacked healthier options – all cereals and yogurts were sweetened. A nice touch was the inclusion of mulberries picked from a tree in the hotel garden, adding a bit of local charm to the experience. One particularly frustrating and baffling detail was that bottled water in the rooms was not included in the price and had to be purchased separately. This felt completely out of place for a hotel of this supposed caliber. Many other guests raised the same concern in their reviews, to which the owner responded by pointing out that tap water is safe to drink and bottled water is an additional charge (sic!). While this might be a unique practice in South Africa, the tap water was unpleasant in taste, leaving us no choice but to purchase bottled water. At €300 per night, this felt like an unnecessary and ungracious expense. The quality of the coffee capsules provided in the rooms was also extremely disappointing. The coffee was virtually undrinkable, and the capsules seemed to be among the cheapest available from local supermarkets. For a hotel of this supposed quality, this lack of attention to detail was simply unacceptable. In a place like Constantia, renowned for its wine production, it would have been a thoughtful gesture to offer guests a complimentary welcome bottle of wine. A reasonably good local wine, which is inexpensive in this region, would have added a wonderful touch to the stay. Given the high room rates, such gestures seem almost obligatory, and their absence left us with the impression of unnecessary stinginess. A nice surprise, however, was the daily note delivered by the staff with the weather forecast for the day. Alongside the note, two small chocolates were included. Unfortunately, the chocolates were of very low quality, tasting more like a chocolate substitute, which detracted from what could have been a delightful detail. A shame, as the idea itself was excellent. The biggest disappointment, however, was the lack of the 5-star standard we had anticipated. The price suggested a luxury experience, but the overall quality was closer to that of a 3-star hotel. We were also surprised and ultimately misled by the large number of overwhelmingly positive reviews for this hotel. Based on our experience, the reality did not align with the glowin

Our check in was quick and all facilities explained by Ashley. Due to an electrical issue our heating was not working and the safe would not operate but the manager was very quick in trying to rectify it and even offered us to move rooms. We decided to stay in the same room and the next day everything was sorted. The breakfast was good but we were there for 19 nights so skipped a few times as for us it got a bit boring. We were there in dismal weather but if it had been sunny we would definitely have enjoyed time by the pool in the lovely surroundings. The location is wonderful if you want a quiet and relaxing break but we found that things to do on an evening are limited unless you travel to the city.

A first time visit to an established Boutique Hotel. It’s a pity we did not know about it before. Everything was perfect, from price, check in, stay, food and checkout. A quiet non-pretentious hostelry! The staff are superb by being friendly but not familiar. Rooms are beautifully appointed and really comfortable. Quiet nights with no roundly venue to attract outsiders and partygoers! Very close to all parts of the area as it’s close to the freeway. A real gem.
