Our stay at the Southern Light Country House in Constantia was a bit disappointing overall. While the property has the bones of what could be a truly lovely guesthouse, it currently lacks the necessary attention to detail to make it a standout destination in such a beautiful area. The house and its facilities seemed a bid run down. It was evident during our stay that the property hasn't been kept in the best shape, which is a real pity given its potential. Many areas felt like they needed a fresh coat of paint or general maintenance to bring them back to their former glory. It certainly remains a nice enough guesthouse, but it needs more care and investment to justify its position in the Constantia market. The service was a tale of two halves. On one hand, the manager was completely absent—we didn't see her once during our entire stay, which felt quite impersonal for a boutique establishment. On the other hand, the two ladies responsible for the rooms and breakfast did a great job and were very attentive. Value for Money: In terms of "price to value," the stay was decent. It is more affordable than some of the high-end estates nearby, but the lower price point reflects the current state of the facilities. Verdict: we would not choose to stay here again, but the house has certainly potential.
