The hotel is generally very good. The staff are all very helpful and the food is of good quality. The issue we had was that two hours after our arrival at the hotel, my husband decided to take a shower. Due to the hotel not providing any nonslip mat either in the shower or on the floor, and the fact that the shower tray did not have a lip meant that the water came out onto the floor which made it very slippery indeed. This had obviously happened previously as the bottom of the fire escape door in the bathroom was clearly rotted at the bottom through water ingress. The only item the hotel had provided was a small towelling Mat which he put on the floor and obviously it was no use against the very slippery water covered floor and he fell awkwardly, causing extensive swelling, pain and bruising to his elbow and arm. I contacted reception to have this put into the accident book and ask for a first idea and We were given ice to put on the elbow to ease the swelling. We were also offered a different room but were told it would not be a feature room, which we refused as we had paid for a feature room. My husband is disabled in any event and during our short break away he was unable to sleep much at night due to the pain in his arm, which worsened when we arrived home. The night this happened, he didn’t feel like eating in the restaurant so we asked if we could order from the bar. The hotel bought bar food to our room and I was a little surprised to see they had still added a service charge onto the bill for that evenings 2 sandwiches and coffee. We stayed for a further three days, as planned but did not use the shower again during our stay.

This was an excellent hotel. Service was great. From James in reception who welcomed us with professionalism and warmth & tips to visit, to the restaurant staff who were helpful and responsive. The chef was great - food was tasty and to a great standard. The housekeeping staff were friendly and accommodating as well. We had an awesome and restful stay. Our dog enjoyed the bed and treats as well as walks in the beautiful grounds. Breakfast was excellent and the rooms were clean, beautifully decorated and comfortable. We will make tgis hotel an regular on our list.

We stayed in a signature room, when I opened the door the room was so small that the door would only open half way as it was so close to the bed. You need to be slim to get in these rooms, and don't take a suit case or you will only be able to get it into the room turning it sideways. The rooms are fine nice decor but very dark due to the scaffold outside the window. The Hotel phoned me a week before arrival to say the courtyard was closed due to works going on but never mentioned the scaffold. Whilst we were at breakfast the workers on the scaffolds managed to open two of our windows and decided to sweep dust and rubbish around on the scaffold which started to come into the room. We also had to put up with disgusting foul language from the workers. We told the lady when we booked out, she said 'Oh deer, hope your next visit will be better` never again. These people are amateurs and should have never let those rooms with the noisy works going on. However Breakfast is good.

Stayed here for one night this weekend. Had such a lovely and memorable stay. My sister advised the hotel that it was my birthday and they really added the personal touch to make me feel special. Special thanks goes to Erin in the spa who was so lovely and welcoming, he is a real asset to your hotel. Our room was lovely overlooking the gardens. Great location to explore Cheltenham as only a short taxi ride away. We had a spa treatment and used the pool area which were all nice. All staff we spoke we were friendly and welcoming. The cookie on arrival is also a nice touch. I would definitely return to this hotel 😊

Decent budget place for a short stay. However if you are looking for something really nice or a longer stay with sparkle then I wouldn’t recommend it. Overall it was good for a quick one night stay and the basic things were available.

I can't fault the hotel itself is gorgeous, perfect location and food for both breakfast and evening was incredible. The aesthetic is everything you would want in a Cotswolds escape with scenic walks surrounding the area and incredibly lovely staff. The food was some of the best food I have had for a while! The however - we were pre warned a couple of weeks before our arrival about an event taking place. I rang to ask how the noise would be, and would the bar or hotel spaces be affected to which we were told we wouldn't hear anything and no they would not, which was not the case. Until 11pm it felt like a nightclub, we had come for a quiet escape but instead had wedding music and singing and shouting, also using all of the bar area. Felt quite disappointed about this, mainly because we just wanted a quiet weekend in what would have seemed like a cosy and quiet place but instead it was chaotic and loud. We would have happily rebooked and enjoyed another weekend which wouldn't have felt as overstimulating. We did ask at the time to which we were just apologised to and it would go off at 11pm. There is always this risk when booking a hotel which has a venue, but equally if we were told when we rang this was going to be the case we would have simply rebooked.

This was our second visit although the first was a few years ago. we had forgotten how lovely it is.
Hotel was really busy because they had 2 weddings and it was Bank holiday weekend .
Despite all that, the staff were very friendly, pleasant and efficient. Obviously used to keeping cool calm and collected.
Well done evereyone
Our third stay at the Wheatsheaf in the past couple of years, and as usual it did not disappoint - from the yummy full English, to the comforting sight of other guests' friendly doggos calmly ignoring the waft of bacon from our table. We had family dinners and family breakfasts (for 7 in a cosy private room) and all were delicious and gave me plenty of fuel to counter the comments I get in the US (where I live) about British food. The daily fresh baked treats were a lovely touch to our very comfortable room. We'll be back!

Not a warm welcome from the landlady (we presume). Accommodated in Jemima’s Suite away from the main pub, decent size with wall-mounted tv and plenty of drawers for clothing as well as a wardrobe and a lovely comfy bed. Let down by a torn throw, cobwebs and grubby bathroom. The hand-wash bottle was a decent brand but had been refilled with a cheap replacement and the bath mat was falling apart. There was grime along the bath panel and around the wall-heater cable. Food was fantastic albeit relatively expensive for pub food - we paid £91 for a main course only dinner with two drinks each. I asked for a G&T and wanted to try the Cotswold Gin which was on the top shelf - the landlady tutted and rolled her eyes because she had to get a chair to stand on to reach it. They only serve two draught lagers, Amstel or Heineken and on the Saturday afternoon (while they were showing an England rugby match) they ran out of Amstel! Over all, great restaurant and great location, but overpriced for the standard of accommodation, which was average. Landlady needs to learn some customer service skills!

Gorgeous location, stunning views & lovely grounds. The room was fine though a little tired. The service was indifferent at times bordering on unhelpful & unfriendly. The food was disappointing & expensive. We had the crab dish as a starter. It arrived as a pile of long thin bits coated in a very hard, chewy batter & the filling, supposedly crab, was mostly skin, slimy & unpleasant. Foamy bubbles oozed out of the coating when cut. This was served with a pile of thin strips of spring onions sitting on top of the crab. Really not nice. When the waiter came to ask if everything was okay, I felt I had to comment but there was no interest, no apology & no offer any redress. The main course which was lamb, was no better than average. Overall a disappointing stay. Needless to say, we shall not return.
GGuest UserClean hotel and grounds, friendly staff, lovely gardens and rooms. Thank you to Julia for her support during the wedding planning, always responsive and friendly and very professional. And on the day we were so grateful for Quintin and Markus. When we met Quintin the day before the wedding to talk through things, he was so calm and made it very clear that nothing was too much trouble for us to ask. The room for the reception looked lovely! Of the evening Markus was amazing, so happy all day and again, offering to help us with anything - we couldn't have asked for better service and it exceeded our expectations. The staff did an amazing job keeping things to time (most likely, trying to find me or keep me to time!) In fact, our family and the bridesmaids all actually said how accommodating the hotel were and what great service there was- we wanted to share this positive feedback. Several guests have since commented to us how amazing the food was- especially the white onion soup (wish we could have the recipe)! And from a dietary requirement point of view from me as a Coeliac requiring gluten free, the staff were amazing. Approaching me and confirming things were gluten free, I had full confidence things were separated and managed appropriately, I am so grateful.
CChristopher GThis was a return visit for us and our friends. Our friends had actually stayed here on Honeymoon 51 years ago, we’d been here 12 years ago. The overall experience was generally positive; the accommodation was comfortable although the Syrup Sponge Room was described as a half themed room which seemed peculiar. Our room, The Chocolate Pudding Room was fine except for an oddly shaped cushion. We ate in the restaurant which was very good apart from the Crab Ravioli with Bisque; there was wet Spinach in the Pasta and the Crab was completely overpowered by a bitter tasting Bisque. The Picpoul wine was excellent. Service was good. Breakfast was fine. There was a couple of niggles. Firstly the lack of a Real Ale at a Country Pub/Hotel and secondly, when I called to book our evening meal they could not find our room booking. I had to call back to give the details of our booking and payment.
A Lovely hotel with some beautiful traditional British features. Very polite and efficient staff. The rooms and facilities were clean and comfy but could use just a touch of flair and a few fancy extras. Overall a lovely stay though. Delicious fresh food and an amazing curry night. VERY good value for money with a great selection of traditional Sri Lankan dishes. Highly recommended. A good selection of bar drinks in a cozy traditional pub setting. Library/ lounge for relaxing. Outside terrace lovely in the sun and comfy and peaceful restaurant for meals and breakfast.
