The hotel has a very good location and is very comfortable and comfortable. Very ”healthful” concept with access to the gym and spa (please take bathroom!) Breakfast 5 stars, not always available in hotels with best prices ( almost it's worth staying in this hotel only for breakfast and staff!)

We stayed at this hotel in October 2022. We had room #214. The good : Check-in was fast. The staff at the lobby is great. Friendly and helpful. The room was very clean, there is a mini-fridge and a safe in the room. No carpet. Nice bathroom with good water pressure in the shower. The room has a strange configuration with the window being at an angle but it is still very functional. You can open the window. Comfortable bed. Reliable Wi-Fi. USB ports available in the room. Grocery store about 10 minutes away walking. Breakfast buffet is good although the selection is limited. The bad : Nothing really bad to say about this place beside that the room we got was smaller than usual, but not a problem for us. I would definitely recommend this place.

Location, service and restaurant is excellent, but the hotel structure, in particular the quite old and noisy room, has some variety of breakfast but does not regularly rest.

We stayed here because we heard that the spa was interesting. And it is -it's presented in a fun way with caves and pools and very good saunas, steam rooms and showers, though it has more of a fun holiday atmosphere than a truly restorative 'serious' Spa. We stayed at the hotel and the room was comfortable. Most if the staff were friendly, and the quality of the food was great, the buffet breakfast deserves a special mention because there is EVERYTHING on offer - really excellent. Tarnishing the experience a bit was the fact that we met one waiter who essentially flounced off because we said we couldn't speak Portuguese, and could be heard mockingly (and quite loudly) echoing us by saying 'we don't speak Portuguese' to his colleague. The colleague then dutifully came over and served us very politely and pleasantly in English, but we were left feeling a bit unwanted and out of place to be honest -its simply nit feasible to speak every language! So, a bit of a mixed bag but definitely worth a try if you're in the area.

We like a quiet hotel but this place is dead. It's an interesting building and well preserved, but...... We had a good balcony with a stunning view but don't assume - most rooms have no outside space whatsoever. The flashy electric blinds were fine but the electric curtains on the other windows/doors were jammed shut. Reported, but no change in the week we were here. The little tables are a joke - tiny drawers with too little storage. We are in Portugal for 2 weeks so we have a lot of luggage. The restaurant is expensive and our first dinner was very good. The menu is not huge and it was the same every single day. I ordered cheese in filo pastry with salad and the cheese was wrapped in greaseproof paper inside the pastry. Not a small amount but a big sheet of paper. 2 courses and a single glass of wine = €82. There were no refreshments near the outdoor poolside, despite a stand marked ”Bar”. My husband went to reception (c150m) and was told the bar would be opened. Back he came (150m). 40minutes later he returned to reception (150m) to be told that the bar would not be opened and he should carry 2 coffees 150m back, down steps and across the undulating gardens. He is 74 years old. The weather wasn't great and there is NOTHING to do. A few books on the shelves, 3 in English, no board games, no evening entertainment at all. Nowhere to walk to in safety, not even the tatty-looking cafe a few hundred yards up the road. Almost all the personnel were friendly and polite but it was obvious that the hotel is woefully understaffed. There is seldom anyone present behind the bar during the evening. I even saw one frustrated guest help himself! And diabetics like me beware, the only sugar-free mixer is Coca-Cola, so good luck getting to sleep full of caffeine. There are several families here so be prepared for children running around the dining room shouting and screaming, even at 9pm. I found an emergency exit door locked and pointed this out to the duty manager. He argued that this was not an emergency exit - until I pointed the signs out to him 🙄. Assumption: English tourist = stupid. We have stayed at 2 Pestana hotels before and are members of their Vacation Club. We are supposed to expect 5* VIP trea**ent - certainly not here. We are trying to arrange an early departure but even that is fraught with Pestana red tape. If you come here, expect to do a lot of waiting around, walking indoors, and thumb twiddling!

We just arrived home and we're already looking to return. The hotel is wonderful... quiet, cozy and clean. The staff is perfect, always trying to make the stay as comfortable as possible. The dining area is beautiful with burel flowers on the ceiling, discreet lights, black cutlery, great taste in everything! In the room, they take care of every detail, with all possible amenities! It has a bathrobe, blankets for the balcony and amazing design! The hotel has a heated pool with a sauna and steam room and some individual hot tubs inside the pool that are top notch! Not to mention that children are not allowed after 18:00, which guarantees the silence of the place for adults! In the room there is a kit for the pool with towels and slippers, in addition to the robe! All thought out with care! Small and charming hotel! What about Vista? Breathtaking! In short: luxury, comfort and privacy! Until then, the hotel gets a 100! The problem was with the temperature of our rooms! We almost died from the heat! On the first night, we struggled to adjust the air conditioning regulator in our room and, although we set the temperature to 16C or 18C, the air from the device was always hot! Finally, we turned it off, but we almost couldn't sleep because of the heat! The next day we complained to reception. She then explained to us, that the air conditioner in the room is worthless! There is a core temperature in the entire hotel!!!!! That's the biggest nonsense I've ever heard in my life! I've been to 50+ countries in so many hotels and I've never seen this! The following night, we left the porch door a crack open, despite the risk of a bird or whatever! But it was the only measure that allowed us to sleep! The temperature they set for the whole hotel is insanely hot! People walk around the hotel in t-shirts and flip-flops! Outside the temperature was fluctuating between 2 and 10C. Now, nobody who goes to a hotel in the mountains wants to be hot... People want, at the very least, to sleep with a duvet, which was not possible. Also, each room should have the right to decide what temperature it wants to spend the night at! A feather! But I think this can be easily adjusted.
