We stayed here as a last minute night away for my husbands birthday. This is a lovely hotel with fabulous friendly staff. We had a spacious room with a large balcony which was a great feature. We enjoyed a wander in the grounds and a couple of cocktails in the bar before lovely dinner. By far, the positives of this hotel, was the staff. I really appreciated just how pleasant and friendly they all were especially the reception staff, porter, waiting and bar staff and the lady who served us at breakfast and gave us a hug when we left. I cannot reiterate just what an asset they are to the hotel and the hand picked hotel brand. Food and drink was also tasty but slightly expensive but for a treat it is acceptable. Our room was cosy and spotless. Lovely crisp, white bedding made for a good sleep. Now comes my only reason i gave it 4 and not 5 stars. I did not appreciate the 12.5% service charge on everything ordered. Most people like to decide what tip they are giving and not have this decision taken out of your hands. I always tip generously at a meal but really dont always tip everytime i order a drink. Drink prices are already expensive without adding 12.5% to every order. 12.5% is heafty too. I feel it is spoiling the hand picked hotel brand and i notice other people have mentioned it too in other reviews. I would say this needs discussed as it is devaluing an excellent hotel brand. That said, i loved this hotel and would visit again. We are also looking to book another hand picked hotel in the future especially if the service charge is reviewed.

I booked afternoon tea for my Mum's birthday with my Grandma, having never visited before. We had a lovely afternoon. Staff were so polite and friendly, the service was excellent and the food delicious. My mum was given a card and chocolate bar from the staff, both branded with the venue which was a lovely touch too. They do add a service charge on but this was no issue as we were really impressed with our visit. It's in a beautiful location too.

Five of us went for Afternoon Tea, beautiful location, lovely room & staff very pleasant selection of cakes & scones were excellent, only let down was the sandwiches very dry bread and minimal filling they had even used the crust on one of the sandwiches such a shame .

We went for a belated Mother’s Day afternoon tea treat on Saturday and were greeted by a lovely cheerful lady( sorry didn’t get her name) and were seated in a very nice room. The afternoon tea was a good selection of cakes and delicious scones but what let it down was the sandwiches which were made with less than fresh bread and had very little filling, this came as a bit of a disappointment as it is not what you would expect at such a lovely hotel. At £28 per person everything should be perfect.

Booked for a special birthday lunch with friends. What a disappointment - poor service, mediocre food. The place is clearly understaffed. No-one asked if the food was ok or if we needed anything. Not what you would expect from Crathorne Hall Hotel. We will certainly not return.

We have stayed at the crathorne hall before and it is beautiful. The rooms are lovely and very clean and the staff are great. Our only let down was the food. (important) . The menu in the Nancy Tennant bar was very small if you were staying for a while you would be eating the same thing often. We had cod chips n peas. Very disappointing. The fish was quite small some of the chips were not cooked enough. We did complain and they gave me a free dessert. The breakfast was ok but not as good as it could have been. Only one sausage the bacon.a bit over cooked and the eggs a bit too funny. This is such a shame because it is a beautiful hotel. Anne walker

We have just returned from a fantastic night away at this beautiful hotel. The stay was made extra special by the wonderful staff, who were friendly, welcoming, and highly professional. Nothing was too much of an ask, and right from booking through to our last moment at the hotel we were made to feel very welcome. The thoughtfulness that went into making our stay luxurious and relaxing was evident from every staff member. Being a special stay to recover from the end of a challenging last few months, my husband had booked the Maltby room with a balcony which we were both looking forward to. Days before we arrived, the hotel rang to explain that a wedding party was booked into our wing with a band and it may be a noisy night. So, we were offered the option of a different room in case we’d prefer a quieter stay. We chose to move to the quieter wing and we could not have been happier with the alternative room. It was spacious and beautifully appointed, with a pretty view across the lawns, garden terrace, and Leven valley. The celebrations of the wedding party could have been a problem but the forethought by the staff made sure our stay was as excellent as the rest of the guests. It was the little things—like the fresh milk that was offered as we arrived in order to make coffee in our room, or the complimentary chocolate and snacks in the bar—that made the stay exceptional. We had our evening meal in the Leven restaurant, where the service was first-class. The food was delightful, and each dish was well-balanced and beautifully presented. My husband’s rib-eye steak was delicious and seared to perfection. The deserts of sticky toffee pudding and chocolate delice were positively divine. My husband thought the wine list was well-balanced and covered a good range of styles to compliment the food on the menu. He went for the Crozes Hermitage and commented that it paired with his steak beautifully. We will definitely be returning to this restaurant in the future. Breakfast continued the theme of excellent customer service. My husband chose the smoked salmon and a Full English and I went for the avocado sourdough, both of which were served with perfectly poached eggs which sustained us throughout our morning walk later that day. Customer service at this hotel is second-to-none: if you are looking for a luxurious stay in a genuinely welcoming hotel, you can look no further.

We stayed at Crathorne Hall Hotel for the bank holiday weekend. From booking to arriving the reception team looked after our every need. Many thanks to Rebecca. In the bar we met two lovely young men who looked after us with drinks and food. They were very polite and joy to talk to. Sam, one of the managers, looked after throughout our stay with excellent service and we enjoyed great chats. He even served us breakfast on our last morning along with his assistant, Robyn. I can honestly say it was a great pleasure to meet all of the team and everyone took the time to talk to us. We will be returning in a couple of months and look forward to meeting up with the team again. I can thoroughly recommend this country hotel - it does not have a spa but the grounds and walks are well worth the visit.
