Canada Lodge and Lake

We stayed at Canada Lodge in a family room for two nights. The location is lovely with pretty views across the lake and I can see why it would be popular for a wedding. The chalet itself was quite nicely decorated and very spacious. However there were some aspects that were quite disappointing given the money we paid for it. Firstly the bathroom is outdated; the grout in the shower was in parts mouldy and the floor looked like something you would see in a public toilet. The floor cupboards had doors made of flimsy chipboard and had not been painted. They were also stained. The bathroom fixtures and fittings were partly outdated, including an old fashioned toilet and outdated soap dispensers attached to the wall. Then we come to the breakfast... the first day we were only offered a cooked breakfast, no juice, cereal or yoghurt and no coffee/tea refills. On the second day, because there was a wedding fayre being set up in the cafe the breakfast tables had all been squashed into a tiny conservatory. When we arrived there were no tables suitable for three people and we couldn't move the chairs around as this would have meant blocking the gangways between the tables which were very close together. The staff seemed to be rushed off their feet but were very helpful when I told them about the problem and they moved a table into the main part of the cafe for us. This time there was cereal and yoghurt and juice available on a small table in the corner.The cooked breakfast was ok but my daughter's toast was very dry. It is such a beautiful location that it was a shame that it was somewhat spoilt by the decor and the poor management of the breakfast in the cafe. That said, the staff were really helpful, trying to do their best under quite difficult circumstances. I would not return.

We picked Canada Lodge as our wedding venue after doing thorough research & visiting a few venues. As soon as we visited Canada Lodge for the first time, we knew we would get married there as it was just the most beautiful place. We booked one of their wedding packages which was extremely good value for what you received & included everything we needed. From the very start the amazing staff were accommodating & helpful in the process. They really cared & from showing us around the venue to assisting us in the planning they were brilliant in every aspect. Their communication was fantastic and as we lived a good couple of hours away it was a bit tricky to organise but they were there to help us & answer any questions we had. They helped us organise every part of our wedding & they made sure it was perfect for us. I must mention Nicola who is such an amazing lady who helped us a lot throughout & eased our nerves by ensuring everything was taken care of so we didn't have to worry, especially on our big day. I must also give a special mention to Hollie who is extremely knowledgeable & experienced. She was just wonderful all the way through our experience from the start to the end. Hollie helped us so much, she really put our minds at ease & answered so many questions for us & ensured everything fell into place, she was there holding our hands from start to finish. You are definitely in good hands with the hardworking staff of Canada Lodge. The accommodation was beautiful, the venue absolutely stunning. Our wedding day was just perfect. The weather, the food, the entertainment everything was just absolutely absolutely perfect. All of our guests absolutely loved every part of it too! I wish I could redo the day all over again! Thank you for everything you did for us Canada Lodge, we cannot recommend you highly enough!

Stayed in one of the apartments for a family wedding. Rooms are big and clean, however the last thing you want to discover at 2am is damp bedding. We had to wait for staff to bring us a dry duvet cover and had to change it ourselves. No offer of a discount/refund. Breakfast wasn't bad but it was limited to what you're given. We were told we can take off things from our cooked breakfast, but weren't allowed to add any extra. Staff were very friendly. Wouldn't rush to stay here again though.

My husband and I got married here on 16th March 2024 and it was incredible! The staff worked tirelessly all day to make our day the most amazing day. They could not have done enough for us and we can’t recommend this venue highly enough! The food from the canapés, to the wedding breakfast and finally the wood fired pizza oven were absolutely delicious and so many of our guests commented the same! The portions were plentiful and piping hot! I hope future couples read this review and their minds are put at ease because the previous negative reviews just don’t ring true to us or our day!! Can’t wait to come back for our anniversaries!

Our first visit to Canada lodge but only living 4 miles away. Popped there for a coffee and a look around. Main man in Rhodris was outstanding so welcoming . The food was outstanding too and generally all staff so welcoming. Even the owners were there and were very pleasant. Now booked for Sunday lunch on 24th.... what made it for us was the friendliness and attitude of front of house..... well done

We were surprised to find that our room was even better than it looked in the website photos! Usually it's the opposite! Beautiful restaurant overlooking the lake with great, freshly prepared food. We really enjoyed our stay.

Had our amazing wedding at Canada Lodge. The day went off almost without a hitch. We stayed in the comfortable rooms the night before and the night after. The staff were incredibly attentive and friendly and always on hand if we needed anything. If you’re looking for a stunning wedding venue, definitely check out Canada Lodge

The wedding venue itself was absolutely stunning can’t say anything bad about it. We stayed in one of the apartments number 6 there are only six in a row the cost was £150 a night with breakfast we where do I start.the apartment was not worth that kind of money paint peeling of the wall looked grubby and to top it all no hot water to have a shower in the morning. Breakfast was appalling bacon was still raw and the hash browns soggy the poached eggs were solid there was only about 20 of there having breakfast. No excuse about being busy god it’s a restaurant. When I checked out there were 3 girls in the office I handed over the keys to check out and was asked if we enjoyed our stay so I told the lady all and was s******ed at by one of them I didn’t expect that. So all in all get your wedding venue sorted that the accommodation is up at the same level as your weddings. I will not be booking a wedding there I’m looking somewhere with a better rating than the one I would give a a 2.

Our wedding day went off without a hitch. It was so beautiful from start to finish and the entire planning process was made easy by the team at Canada Lodge. Everyone all day was saying how beautiful it is and how lovely the food was. We had the best day, and staying the night before was the cherry on top. Sitting on the porch watching the fish jump in the lake was magical, even with the rain the view was hauntingly beautiful. Thank you so much for the best day! Georgi and Leisha 3/10/2023
