We booked a premium room, but apart from being a little larger, it was no different from a standard room. We were given a small bottle of wine, only to find that this appeared to be provided to all guests and was not a special premium-room benefit.
The staff were consistently friendly and helpful, which was much appreciated. However, there were several disappointments. We arrived for breakfast 30 minutes before the end of service and were not offered freshly cooked eggs. The omelette available was stone cold, and there was no hot milk or even hot water left.
Another issue was the heating, which only seemed to operate at certain times of the day. Our room was very cold, and although an extra heater was provided on request, it barely took the edge off the chill.
The most worrying incident occurred when I became unwell and staff brought an oxygen cylinder. While they acted quickly and with concern, the cylinder turned out to be empty. This was quite shocking and could have had serious consequences.
The kindness of the staff was the saving grace of our stay, but for a hotel offering premium rooms, there are several areas that require attention, particularly room heating, breakfast service, and ensuring emergency equipment is properly maintained.
Very disappointed!
