chengshibianjie properties in Dali

The strength of this hotel is the location. It's so close to the Dali High Speed Railway Station, within a short walking distance, but you won't have hear trains approaching or departing the station from the hotel. From the street traffic, perhaps, but it's not too bad, considering this is China after all with most of the vehicles being electric. The room was big and the bed was good (although I didn't like the hard headboard). I had no issues with this. However, the drawback is that you can smell cigarettes even though the room is non-smoking. Not from the room I stayed itself but from other rooms, I assume, and/or from the corridor. I don't exactly understand why Chinese love smoking so much. I was in the elevator with a guy smoking without caring in the world, although the non-smoking sign is clearly posted there. My nostrils sadly clogged up from the effect of second hand smoking there. Breakfast is standard Chinese breakfast, i.e. noodle soup, rice porridge, fried rice, boiled eggs, and veggie dishes, etc. Nothing to rave or complain about in that regard. There is even a Dicos fast food chain store (KFC's Chinese rival) and a convenience store nearby. There are many restaurants and food stalls (and even a 7-11 convenience store) in front of the train station exit so you would find a quick bite easily.

When I checked in, I had to switch rooms. The new room had just been cleaned, and the smell was incredibly strong and offensive. The customer service and front desk staff were both very good, but the breakfast was just okay, not particularly tasty. I still recommend staying here (pictures are irrelevant as I didn't take any).
