Jieke Hotel (Sanba Plaza Branch)

The hygiene was really subpar, and the room looked nothing like the pictures. I mainly want to talk about the hygiene. As soon as I walked in, I saw a piece of chili stuck to the pillow, like a crushed piece from a spicy snack, with red oil seeped into it. The oil alone would be hard to wash out, but the chili was clearly stuck on it, and it fell off with a flick, indicating the previous guest had used it and it hadn't been washed or changed at all. I just threw that pillow into the corner and used a towel on the other one to sleep. There were also two huge yellow circular stains on the duvet – who knows what they were – on one corner of the duvet. I didn't use that part anyway. It's a shame I didn't take photos at the time; you might think I'm making it up, but it was really disgusting. Then, the floor drain in the bathroom was blocked. After showering for just a minute, the water would overflow my slippers, which was just revolting. If they don't even change pillows, it's hard to say if there was any urine or feces in the water on the bathroom floor. I had to shower for a few tens of seconds, then step out and wait two minutes for the water to drain. You might ask why I didn't request a room change. First, if they don't change pillows, it's unlikely this was the only room like that; I just happened to get it. Changing to another room would probably be just as disgusting, and since I was staying alone, I just put up with it for two nights. Second, I discovered the clogged drain at night, and the front desk lights were off and no one was there. I wasn't going to call someone to come over in the middle of the night to change it. I managed to wash up with some difficulty. Plus, this isn't really a hotel; it's more like a guesthouse, with each floor of an apartment building being a hotel. It's true that this wasn't an expensive hotel, but it wasn't the cheapest either. Anyway, it was pretty disgusting. After a long day of sightseeing, just thinking about going back to this hotel and being grossed out ruined my mood. It's also inconvenient; there's no direct bus or subway route to the hotel from anywhere, so I usually had to get off and walk for about ten minutes. The hotel is also on the 19th floor, so going up and down was quite a hassle.

Satisfied. This is my second time staying here, and I've stayed in this area many times before. It's about a 10-minute walk from Zhongshan Square, located in an apartment building. Next to it, there's a small mall with a Buy-Rite supermarket, a food street, and a 24-hour gym. There are also other restaurants nearby, which is convenient. A short walk uphill leads to Children's Park, perfect for a morning workout, and further up is the Botanical Garden. The room was good, clean, and bright. I liked having a fridge (didn't use the washing machine). With various Ctrip discounts, it was 71 yuan per night. According to Ctrip, it's cheaper than other accommodations in the same building, probably because floors 8-9 are considered mid-to-lower levels. Overall, satisfied.

This guesthouse was barely acceptable, to be honest. The main reason I booked it was for the washing machine. As for the sofa, I had to cover it with two bath towels before I dared to sit on it. The location, however, was quite convenient, close to everything. The service attitude was genuinely good; whenever I reported an issue, they immediately said they'd handle it and did so promptly.
