Kalundewa Retreat

Kalundewa Retreat has an amazing concept and a beautiful, secluded location that really stands out. The surroundings are peaceful and unique, making it a lovely place to disconnect. That said, there are visible signs of wear and tear in certain areas, and some aspects of property maintenance could be improved. However, what truly made up for this was the hotel team — their service was warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. The food was excellent and clearly prepared with care, which added greatly to the overall experience. With better upkeep, this place has the potential to be exceptional.

We had a wonderful stay at Kalundewa Retreat and can definitely recommend this place. At the beginning, there was a small misunderstanding regarding our booked room category, but it was clarified quickly and without any issues. The location surrounded by nature is truly special. The incredible biodiversity and the many animals make the retreat a unique place to stay. Everything was very clean and well maintained, and we especially appreciated that there was no plastic waste to be seen in the surrounding area. Whenever we had a question or request, the staff was very helpful and responsive. We would especially like to highlight Nethum, who was extremely friendly, attentive, and helpful throughout our stay. The food was also very good, with special praise to the young chef! Overall, we felt very comfortable and enjoyed the beautiful surroundings and excellent service. We would definitely recommend Kalundewa Retreat.

We really enjoyed our stay with this wonderful nature retreat. Place is getting the renovation what it deserves and now it’s really nice. As usual their service is excellent and love their food which was done according to our requirement though some of it was not in the menu. Buddhika and his team were very helpful and attentive. This place is among the nature and please do not go there if you don’t accept it the natural environment. We will definitely be back there.

I fell in love with this resort as it’s Eco. Breathtaking views from your room with nature all around..I was lucky to see 10 huge hornbill birds out my window. And so much more. The rooms are so beautiful and private each one has their unique characteristics and charm. The management and staff are very genuine and attentive to all your needs. An amazing top notch chef with all organic fresh cuisine. A great place to chill and step away from the world. 🌟🪷🌟🪷

Whereas the hotel grounds and rooms need a little loving care, the staff were out of this world -- so thoughtful and accommodating and wanting to please. The food was very good; enjoyed the cook's attention to our requests. Nice hotel at mid-range, good location and friendly ambiance.

We had a wonderful stay and truly enjoyed every moment. Most importantly, we have never met staff like this in any hotel we have visited before. They genuinely cared about our comfort and went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect. Their warmth, attentiveness, and dedication made our stay very special. The food was exceptional. Although the variety was limited, every dish we tried was incredibly delicious and full of flavor. The quality and taste were outstanding, showing great care in preparation. The room was simply heaven. It was beautifully blended with nature, allowing us to feel fully connected to the natural surroundings. Waking up to the soothing sounds of birds and being surrounded by such beauty was truly refreshing. The room was also very spacious, comfortable, and offered a perfect view, creating a peaceful and calming atmosphere. The bathroom had a slight smell at times, but it was not a major concern. It would be even better if additional amenities such as conditioner, body lotion, and shower caps were provided for extra comfort. Overall, it was a memorable and relaxing stay, and we would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a peaceful, nature-connected, and welcoming experience.
