Kandalama Lake Resort

A stay of only a few days, but really enjoyable! We stayed little at the hotel as we were busy with the tour (by the way, it is an ideal starting point for the main archaeological attractions), but such interludes proved invigorating: enchanting scenery, very well-maintained grounds, bungalows more than adequate in cleanliness, decor and comfort, a varied and very very interesting buffet, impeccable and masterful service in terms of efficiency (finding two sun loungers and its umbrella was never a problem, despite it being very attended) and discretion both in the dining room (special thanks to the waiter who bothered to go back to the kitchen to find a certain tuna fish for my husband, despite it being on the brink of being refitted) and in the pool, which is spotlessly clean. We would gladly return!

First of all, the view is amazing. The sunset view on the lake is just breathtaking. The staff was very cautious about any need we had. The rooms were very clean, beautiful and comfortable. Furthermore, the food was great with plenty of choice. Last but not least the nearby activities such as visit of temples, sigiriya,... was great entertainment.

Stayed here for 3 nights as part of an Island tour A fabulous setting in the jungle, with amazing views across the lake and mountains. The approach road is a bit slow and bumpy, and it’s about a mile long! The hotel is a long way from Dambulla town, so it’s not really practical to go out of the hotel in the evenings to other restaurants unless you have transport. Having said that, the restaurant, snack and room service menus are excellent and very reasonably priced. Service was friendly and efficient throughout Wi-Fi was good through the hotel and pools. The sunbeds and mattresses need upgrading and there are not really enough beds given the hotel capacity. They could do with some sun umbrellas Breakfast is superb with loads of choice. It’s a shame it’s not self serve due to Covid I guess, but strange that the sister hotel in Negombo was self serve? The rooms are well equipped and a basket of fruit and snacks were delivered free of charge on 2 of the 3 nights There are loads of monkeys in the area that are always around the balcony. Very entertaining, but keep the door closed Housekeeping was disappointing, but probably down to one individual. Our room was left unlocked and the door wide open after servicing on one occasion, and we had to ask for new loo rolls as spares were not left in the bathroom Overall, I’d stay here again as the location was superb

Their service is excellent.They always take extra effort to satisfy the customers. The staff are very personable and helpful. It is a real relaxing hotel. You don’t feel it as a hotel. You feel the beauty of the environment. Wonderful arrangement.

We loved the hotel which is blended with nature. Staff was friendly and helpful. Check in was smooth. Infinity pool has a breathtaking view. Even though they had 3 pools we loved this one the most. They have recycling plant which recycle almost all the garbage comes out from the hotel rooms. Fascinating.
