Rishyap is a hidden paradise tucked away at a height of 8500 feet to the east of Kalimpong. Its a small and tranquil rural settlement of the Lepcha community surrounded by dense forests of pine, birch, fir, rhododendrons and orchids with a wonderful view of the vast range of Khangchendzonga and other Himalayan snow peaks. Snug within the Neora Valley National Park, you should come here to Sleeping Buddha, the home of the clouds and spend a few days unaccompanied by the bustle of urban life. Forget your life's worries and breathe in the pure fresh air, soothe your eyes with the greenery and let us pamper you like royalty.Show More

Worst place to stay, and scary! Booked this stupid place via makemytrip for 3 nights paying 6000 rupees per night. After checking into the place, and staying there for a while found out the following- 1. room is super cold, no heater, provided one electric heater, but after sometime electricity is gone 2. mold on the wall, which triggered the allergies 3. No electricity back up, said, will only run generator for 30 mins after 5 pm 4. Cigarette sticking bathrooms 5. Unhygienic room 6. 3 star hotel price just for nothing 7. Unfriendly hotel owner. Had to bail out the hotel and rushed out. It did not feel right in every aspect. I strongly recommend "NOT TO STAY " at this hotel. It is not even worth even considering it. And finally beware of the selling proposition from this hotel website and the makemytrip website, their description of this hotel is deceiving, and you will never get your money back. Cheaters...

We planned for our trip with the only knowledge that it would have a picturesque view of the beautiful Kanchenjhanga. Planning became a reality with the magic touch of Mr.Hashim, the Sales-in-charge of the Owners – Nakshatra Resorts, Kolkata. He made the reservations so easy with personal touch that we simply went ahead. Road journey up to Lava in Kalimpong Dist was smooth and enjoyable as the road was built and maintained by Border Roads, Govt. of India. But from Lava to Rishop, it was a badly maintained local Road and the ride was quite uncomfortable. Rishop is a small underdeveloped place consisting of temporary roads (during monsoon, must be horrible), host of innumberable Home stays and the beauty – Sleeping Buddha. It was a well planned & constructed Hotel having all modern facilities. Rooms were really big and spacious with attached modern toilets. All the rooms were having Hill view but the rooms on western side were facing the dream mountain (subject to weather conditions of course). It had electric bed warmers, room heaters were provided on selective basis as electric supply was erratic and inadequate. Now coming to the hospitality, it was “morning shows the day”. Like Mr.Hashim, there was Mr. Banibrata who with his team would take care of everything. Breakfast was complementary but in a remote place, one could have lunch, dinner and snacks on payment basis. Home cooked food was simply delicious and they would go all out to cater to your culinary needs with personal touch. Thus, overall rating for Sleeping Buddha is EXCELLENT. The location of Sleeping Buddha is on a viewpoint and attracts lot of visitors throughout the day. If the local authorities take care of developmental needs and roads are made per***ent with a few parks, shopping area and cafes. It would develop into a lovely tourist place. Another nuisance is presence of Syndicate ***aging local transport. Charges are quite high and need to be controlled.

Best hotel of Rishyap - excellent food, good ambience. The taste of all the dishes are also real yummy - yet not very rich. Both a-la-carte & buffet options are available. The proprietor Mr. Banibrata Chowdhury is the best host - he takes special care in ensuring guest delight.

Be it the location or the interiors or the amenities, this is the best place in whole of Rishop period. The service staff as well as the chef are very good. Must mention two outstanding features - 1. View from the rooms especially from the top floor and 2. electrically operated thermal blankets in each bed in a place where temperature goes down to single digit even in March.

Sleeping Buddha, a resort located at a tranquil, secluded place in Rishop where you can enjoy the peace and breath fresh air . I with my wife and son went for couple of nights to get away from city life's hassle and maddening crowd in February which is not actually a good time to get a breathtaking view of Mount kanchenjunga but that was not on our checklist too. But if you visit in summer or in spring you should be able to see right from your hotel room. We also had a little trek upto Tififn Dara from where you can get a 360 view of the mountain ranges; unfortunately we could not due to bad weather but the trek was worth while. Now for the hotel room or facilities let me tell you about the room we were in (Family Room No. 8). It was huge.. humongous with 2 queen beds, a dinning table, a center table at the corner, a Television and a spacious bathroom with adequate accessories. You will also get complimentary slippers, a pair of toiletries, welcome snack basket and the bathroom had geyser which is a must in winter and this time of the year as well. Now I have only given 3 star for the room as I felt some must to have facilities were missing specially when I spent over 7K per night for the room. For the starter it did not have a room heater which is not at all expected instead they had heating mattresses which you can operate but that's not good enough as you should not expect the guests to be on bed all the time. Secondly there was no power backup, we had a power cut during our stay for more than 6 hours but luckily it was at the bed time, so we didn't face much of a challenge. But imagine yourselves in winter or even in spring with no room heater and no power(mattresses will not heat as well, though they had adequate blankets), no hot water, how would you feel? Lastly with the kind of money I spent on this room , I would expect a mini fridger in the room but that's not something absolutely necessary but would have been nice to have. Now last but no way the least, the service and the stuff. I could have given more than 5 stars if I had the opportunity. They are simply out of the world. I have been travelling for so long and to so ***y places, and honestly these people stand out anytime. Starting with Mr. Subrata, the Supervisor, a soft spoken gentle*** makes sure of all the guest's de***d are met and taken care of. He also had surprised me with a little treat on my Birthday during our stay which I appreciate a lot. Then I must talk about Sushil a hotel staff who always serves you with a wide smile in his face and again very soft spoken and well ***nered. Lastly I cannot complete the review without talking about the food and the cook , hotel staffs call him Master (I forgot his name). He is a genius I must say, whatever he cooked for us was mouthwatering and delicious from simple rice - daal to fried rice/chilly chicken, aloo paratha ( it was the best I have ever had in my life). Hotel serves complimentary breakfast which we found overwhelming and

Rooms are large and clean. View from hotel room is nice. Service is good. Hotel staffs are cooperative and well behaved. Cons: exorbitant price in this location, 5000/ + tax. No heat for this price, instead they have electrically heated blankets on mattress. This is a health hazzard, because the electrical field may cause cancer , worse for pregnant women. These blankets can also cause fire. Food is basic, price is high.Small geyser.

the hotel has an unimpressive facade. the rooms are quite large and offer nice views. the food was basic. i couldnot understand why should i pay 7500 rs for a room in this kind of hotel. the food price was hurting. they charge 5star rate for a 2 star service. but i understand all the hotels in this neo find places make quick business of moneymaking without any ethics
