Taj Chia Kutir Resort & Spa Darjeeling

We stayed at Taj Chia Kutir a group of 11. Somehow property is lacking the feel and experience at Taj in compare to our past experiences of staying at Taj. We were there for 2 nights, on our day 2 we wanted our kids to take part in Bush Craft Activities, Archery and Art & Craft. So we booked at reception and confirmed twice for all these activities to be done by 4 pm but no one turned up uptil 5 pm kids waited and were too irritated and lost their patience and dint wanted to do any of those activities. They proiritize other guest with other activity so our kids waited and end up not doing any of them though one of them was paid activity and we were ready to pay for it. We dint go anywhere so the kids could those activities but nothing happened. Later in evening they were offering us Ala Carte Dinner at main restaurant which they were offering to all guests as a gesture to compansate for it, which they were not doing any favour for us. We requested for dinner at Speciality restaurant, but we were told that they were completely sold out and no table were available at all for 11 of us and they cannot accommodate us. We suggested that our 5 kids could have dinner first and we adults can go later whenever the table is available. This whole process took an hour for them to get a table for our 5 kids, but to our suprize after so much arguments when we went to the restaurant it was completely empty. Only 1 table was occupied with 1 couple in the entire restaurant, even after going there they were still lying to us the they have booking for 3-4 tables. But actually no one turned up in the whole restaurant rest of the evening. There were so many lies going on around the place the whole evening, they all were trying to fool us by making false stories. We all were very disappointed with so much lies by the reception staff and speciality restaurant both. This is not Taj at all. We dont expect this from Taj after paying so much.

We've been looking to visit this property for quite some time, finally got around to staying here for 3n during a short break in April. The entry to the property is a mini experience in itself with the twisty winding roads and the air getting progressively cooler. As soon as we entered the lobby/hall/tea room we were wowed by the view in front of us...an uninterrupted valley view right in front and comfortable loungers to take it all in. We stayed in the valley view room with the deck and found the views absolutely wonderful, although the visibility was not great. The room itself is quite spacious and the bed was very comfortable. The deck is a lovely way to enjoy an early morning tea or a late evening drink and we ended up having a lunch there as well. The breakfast was great across the board, with a lot of variety and some local specialities added. We ended up having dinner pretty much every day over there and found the local options to be fairly varied and delicious. We wanted to try out sonargaon, but just didn't have the appetite on the day. The bar had some live music playing on most days, but again couldn't get in with the kids.... Otherwise it seemed like it had a great vibe. The staff were extremely helpful and welcoming and went the extra mile to make everything comfortable. They always had a smile on their face, whether at the reception or in the restaurants or at the pool. We tried out one of the tea trail activities that they offer in the estate and it was a lovely experience. The guide was very friendly with our kids and they both had a blast....our son even remembers the song that he taught him during the trek. The tea gardens are quite huge and the kids enjoyed picking tea leaves, while we enjoyed the views. While the location is a little out of the way, especially if you are to go to Darjeeling, but given its proximity to the airport it did work out well for us.

Wonderful experience, superb hospitality, well trained and courteous staff. Loved the warmth of each and every member. Evening sunset with lighting of lamps with shiv playing flute inside the lobby created a magical atmosphere. Taj keep up the good work.

A beautiful resort in the middle of makaibari tea estate. One can even take a walk down the tea estate on your own. Ask for rooms facing the hills and higher floor. The food options are good and staff is super helpful. The resort also has a small makaibari tea outlet but if you want more options walk to the nearby factory outlet. If you have not travelled in your vehicle one will need a vehicle to step out of the hotel. Ideally the resort should provide a vehicle drop till the main road. Will look ford to visit it with family.

We recently stayed at the Taj Chia Kutir, a nice quintessential place nestled among the beautiful hills of the Himalayas, a short drive from Bagdogra airport. Our stay was quite comfortable - the rooms were well-appointed and the staff was courteous and always willing to help. However, we didn't spend much time outside the hotel as there wasn’t much to do nearby. We would typically just, eat, stay and chill at the hotel. Unfortunately, out of our group, three or four of us developed some kind of food poisoning and suffered from diarrhea and vomiting after the stay. One concern I wanted to raise was regarding the drinking water. The Taj initiative of serving drinking water in reusable glass bottles appears to be good for the environment. However, the bottles were not sealed and we couldn't really ascertain the source and quality of the water. Since water was only served in these glass bottles in the rooms, we had no way to validate it. We assumed that since it's a Taj property, the water must have been properly checked and safe to drink, so we kept drinking it throughout our stay. I wanted to bring this to the management's attention and request them to look into the source and quality of the drinking water being served in the rooms. Please tighten up the processes around this to ensure the water is safe and hygienic for all guests. Other than this issue, we had a pleasant stay at your beautiful property. Thank you!

We had an awesome time at Taj Chia Kutir Resort and Spa. The place is surrounded by natural beauty and the staff make you feel comfortable. Everyone of the staff right from the drivers driving us from Siliguri to Front Office staff Milu and Khushi to Asfa who explained us various activities, were superb! Food at Sonargaon was outstanding and the F&B Manager was very helpful.

Excellent hospitality by the staff, especially by Miss Nilu Pandey, she was very helpful. The food was amazing, clean room, everything was just a phone call away, Manager at the restaurant was very prompt to adhere all our requirements, cabs provided by the resort was clean with well mannered chauffeur. Overall our stay was good and we hope to return very soon, this time for a longer period of time.

Hi Team, Firstly, thank you for giving us such cheerful memories during our stay at Taj Chia Kutir, Darjeeling. I wanted to mention an incident and express my gratitude to the team for resolving the issue. At check-in, we encountered a problem with my Epicure membership not showing up in the system, and we were asked to consider this a normal non-portal booking. This issue arose due to a recent update in the TATA system, which consolidated all accounts under a single umbrella. Despite checking with the reception team, they were unable to assist us. In the evening, we spoke with the Manager, Mr. Amit, who assured us to enjoy our stay without any worries as he would sort out the issue. Within an hour, he resolved the problem by thoroughly checking the data in the system. Mr. Amit was very friendly and attentive, ensuring we enjoyed our two-night stay at Taj. Wonderful experience, courteous staff , well maintained property. Fantastic view , nice ambience, lovely evening live flute music , nice morning yoga, enjoyable indoor heated swimming pool, nice experience of Makaibari tea factory visit
