Nanshe Courtyard | Designer Vacation Homestay (Datong Ancient City Huayan Temple Branch)

The location is fantastic, right inside the ancient city scenic area, next to the city wall. Dining and strolling are all nearby. Parking for self-driving is also very convenient. Driving to major attractions takes about an hour. The staff are all very nice; coming and going feels like coming home. The atmosphere is very relaxed, and the rooms are cleaned meticulously. I highly recommend it.

Extremely pet-friendly! The housekeeper even helped me walk and feed my dog, probably because my room was right next to the front desk, which was super convenient for going out. Plus, there's an iron downstairs, which was handy for my clothes.

Beautifully designed with an elegant ambiance, the room layout was excellent and had a wonderful vibe. It was spotlessly clean, and the staff were incredibly responsive to all requests – nothing was too much trouble! Hotel parking was also very convenient. The location, right next to the North City Wall, makes getting around super easy whether you're driving or using public transport. The hotel breakfast was also fantastic! Felt completely at ease. Five-star rating!

The environment is great, and I had a very comfortable stay. The staff, especially the gentle lady, was lovely.

This guesthouse is located right in the old town, which makes getting around super convenient. It's a three-story building, and thankfully, it has an elevator. The breakfast could be a bit more varied; the freshly made noodles were delicious, and the sticky corn was absolutely amazing! However, it would be even better if they offered some bread and fresh milk, especially since my kids aren't big fans of Chinese breakfast options.

Thanks to Nanshe, our trip to Datong was incredibly enjoyable and pleasant, offering a sense of security just like home. The guesthouse is located inside the ancient Datong city wall, which is an excellent location, making it very convenient to visit famous attractions and long-standing restaurants, all within walking distance. The room was clean, tidy, and well-arranged—small yet cozy. We even had foreign guests in the room opposite ours 😉. The two housekeeper sisters provided attentive and responsive service, always ready to offer advice. On our first day, they recommended the nearby Dongfang Xiaomian restaurant, a local favorite for sliced noodles; you can't go wrong with anything you order there! 😁 On our second day in Datong, we experienced a sandstorm, a rare experience for someone from the coast. We stayed at Nanshe for three days, and because of Nanshe, I fell in love with Datong.

I chose Nan She for both of my trips to Datong, spaced about twenty days apart. The first time was by chance, but the second was a deliberate choice, both reflecting my high appreciation for every aspect of Nan She. It's located right beneath the North City Wall of the ancient city, close to Daiwang Mansion and Kuixing Tower. Its proximity to the main road makes getting around very convenient. The entrance to the North City Wall is just a few minutes' walk away, offering a superb spot to watch the sunset over the ancient city. The breakfast at the guesthouse is absolutely delicious. The rooms are spotless, and the bedding is clean; every detail is perfectly executed. The overall service is beyond words – attentive, warm, and thoughtful. Choosing the right accommodation is a crucial part of enhancing the travel experience, and both of my stays here provided an excellent one. Datong is a city you'll want to revisit; the more you get to know it, the more you'll love it. The blend of history and modernity, delicious food, and beautiful scenery offers endless appeal.
