GGuest UserOne of the best stays I've staid in so far! The architecture is amazing, location perfect in the city center yet easy to reach for taxis, it's spotless clean, cozy warm and the owner is a really nice guy who enjoys inviting his guests for a tea and conversation. If you go to Datong, stay in this place and you'll be happy!

GGuest UserThe Yunzhong Chaoran Pavilion was newly renovated just prior to our stay in January 2026. The whole building is spotless, beautifully decorated, and comfortable. The staff make an effort to understand you, and are adept at using translation apps when conversation breaks down. They have a “Xiao Du” feature , similar to the American “Alexa”, where you can ask it to turn lights off and on, as well as to open and close the curtains . The receptionist patiently helped me to learn how to use it - and frankly , it was great practice for my pronunciation of Mandarin. Finding the hotel is as challenging as any other located where vehicles are not permitted to enter. We were fortunate to have a taxi driver who helped us figure out where the hotel was, and then walked us there. Datong is not yet well known as a tourist destination. However, it is a reasonably close drive to the Hanging Temple and the Grottoes, as well as the Wooden Pagoda. There is plenty to see within walking distance. The city space around the hotel is under construction- I expect it will become a lot more popular in the next two years.

GGuest UserGreat location, just right around the corner of the old city. The room is clean. Both girls at the reception are very nice and helpful especially when you are not speaking the language. They helped organise the taxi for me to go visit places. Amazing place to stay with these amazing people. I sure will return some day.

GGuest UserExtremely happy with my stay here! Room is very spacious and clean, and I was within walking distance to most of the attractions and restaurants. The staff here are very friendly and they always went out of their way to make my experience in Datong memorable! I'm especially grateful because the manager showed me how to order food from local restaurants using my phone and get it delivered straight to my room! 10/10!!

The rooms are spacious, with mirrors and large wardrobes (including blankets), and a long sofa large enough for one person to sleep on. It's very close to Datong Ancient City; you can see the Drum Tower and the Nine-Dragon Wall within walking distance.
