Linden Centre ·Benzilan

What you see is what you get - or even more! This place is truly a sanctuary designed and curated with great intention. We rested well after coming back from our yubeng hike. we arrived late at 930pm, however I managed to order my dinner with the hotel via WeChat, and they heated it up for us after we arrived even though the kitchen closed at 730. we had the chicken mushroom hotpot, a Yunnan classic and very well done there. The staff offered us hot milk for the night too :) The room is beautiful and comfortable and spacious. there is a tub which we could have a good soak after hiking. Breakfast was great too with options for coffee and butter yak milk. we stayed through the morning in the lobby area, browsing their books and merchandise. The staff also patiently introduced us to the various linden centre projects, various wines that is produced in the region and let us try some before we left. Knowing that we were taking a train to lijiang, she even checked if we arrived safely. Highly highly recommend. So value for money :) can't wait to return!

Quite remote, no shops or restaurants etc within walking distance. Would be nice if in house transportation provided to closest village of Tongduo or toward Benzilan town - even on a tractor would be fine & possibly fun! Not much to do so good for escaping urban life. Nearby hiking in forest reserve. Surrounding countryside is beautiful & peaceful. Excellent service & food. Common areas & rooms are minimalist but nice design & materials, excellent bathroom amenities, towels & linens. In our 2 rooms we were the only guests (low season May-June), which is a shame but great for us. Understandable though with the location.

Room, location, staff: everything is perfect. Options for having dinner with a great number of choices and great quality.

My husband and I had been traveling around Yunnan for our honeymoon for about 10 days when we arrived at the Linden center hotel in Benzilan, which we chose at random to discover the area a bit. This turned out to be our favorite stay in Yunnan. The hotel itself is brand new, and it is clear a lot of thought was put into everything to turn it into a (very!) comfortable and beautiful haven in the middle of those mountains. Fa Cai (nickname), the young manager of this place went above and beyond to make our stay extra special, making sure we had everything we needed, arranging for smooth transportation in an area where it’s not easy, recommending local excursions, and just generally being super friendly and extremely professional (and speaking great English, which was an added bonus!) Thanks to her we also got to know about the center’s cultural mission in Yunnan and rural China beyond the hotel(s), and the founder’s exciting initiatives which we will be following. The young man who was working alongside her was great too, and so were the other staff/ cooks who always prepared simple delicious meals. Everything was perfect, we did not want to leave! We will be sure to go back, and hopefully visit the other Linden center locations in Yunnan!

A real pleasant experience . The location is a little remote but the environment is so nice and beautiful it doesn’t really matter. Outstanding breakfast. Great staff with real hospitality.
