The room was filthy as shown by the small selection of photographs. The quality of the photographs is not great as I had to transfer them all to a word document when I had to replace my phone. They are copies of the photo's I sent to the JAKE KEY the manager, who was spectacularly absent during most of my 3 day stay, particularly on the occasions I tried to track him down to discuss my complaint. Unfortunately by the time I realised all the below on the first night, the bar was closed and there was no one around to complain to. I had to be up early for a meeting in the morning, so had no choice but to roll my sleeves up. -The room had clearly not been cleaned after the last occupant which was evident from the 'poo stains' on the underneath of the toilet seat which was disgustingly vile. - There were brown urine stains on the outside of the toilet. - The taps, bath and sink were covered in a layer of grime and scum - scum doesn't photograph I'm afraid. - The bathroom floor was disgusting with hair / dust balls in the corners and even an old contact lens on the skirting board. - There was a brown stain which ran down the wall out of the air vent in the bathroom. The vent itself was fithy and covered in layers of dirt and dust. - The glasses were greasy and smeary and several still wet. - The drawers were full of dust, fluff, hair and debris. - There were men's whiskers left behind in the sink and on the tiled splash back. - The tea tray was filthy and tea spills littered the tray surface as well as the side it was on. The mugs were dirty and stained as was the cutlery. - There was evidence of carpet beetles (dead bodies and casings) in the 'spare bedding' dumped onto the floor in the wardrobe which was not stored in a bag or covered in any way. - The windows were caked in the corners and on the frames with a black sludge – they didn’t look to have been cleaned in years. - The food was mediocre: my gammon steak was underdone – I had asked for it to be well cooked. I asked for a salad without dressing – it came with it on! - The barmaid sat in the garden drinking and chatting with her friends while guests, including me, waited at the bar. - They ran out of Pinot Grigio on the first night, nor did they have any sparkling water. - The stay for the room was taken of my personal credit card without my knowledge or authorisation: I had paid the bar tab with my personal credit card. The room cost was to be paid with a company credit card. Despite numerous emails to the supposed manager ‘Jake Key’ I have not been provided with any kind of explanation or apology for the disgusting state of the room. Rather, he has made up pathetic excuse after pathetic excuse to avoid responding to my complaint. I doubt he has even addressed the appalling housekeeping issues I raised with him, for which I provided plenty of photographs. CLEANLINESS OR LACK OF IT SEEMS TO BE AN ONGOING ISSUE WITH THIS HOTEL. SAVE YOUR MONEY AND GO ELSEWHERE – DON’T STAY I

When to try out the Hilton House House hotel for an evening meal. I ordered lasagne which was absolutely dire ! Burnt and about 4 forkfulls if it was edible. My partners meal was ok. I don’t make a fuss normally but the cheesy garlic bread it was supposed to be with was dry, tasteless and had no cheese. A free desert was offered but by that time it was too late. Such a shame as we were hoping it would be a place we could walk to on a frequent basis . Having said that the waitress was very polite and apologetic so cannot fault the service. Won’t be going back for food though.

Historic character hotel. We only stayed one night but it was very comfortable. The staff were friendly and helpful. Special callout to the chef and the young waitress who served us. The room was quiet and homely. The food was terrific, We had dinner. Beef Stroganoff and Pork in a sauce. Nice cask beers. The only down side was that we were in the annexe which had a bath but no shower and we couldn't get on the internet.

I've been staying here on and off for business for the past 6 months, and breakfast service is so few and far between, I have around 25 minutes to get in and out after staying the night, but I am constantly having to go outside and chase the elderly woman for extra breakfast bits but her only priority is clearly smoking, and then when I do manage to get her back inside she walks around chuntering to herself under her breath, it's hardly the atmosphere I'd expect to have. Why should I be made to feel awkward when interrupting her third cigarette break by 8.30? Everything else has been ok; you get what you pay for, but maybe I should just go to room only and not have to deal with it.

The place isn’t relaxing as they often hold parties until the late AM which means no sleep. They also do not serve food when a party is on just a heads up as it states on their website differently. Staff are nice but cannot deal with customer concerns even the managers? It basically is a pub/party bar with a few rooms upstairs. Rooms are very small and get very hot and unless you want to hear all the pub punters outside at 1 in the morning then you have to keep your windows shut

A marvellous hotel. It was clean and comfortable, the room was well furnished. The food was excellent both at the evening meal and breakfast. The best part of the stay was the people who worked there who were all helpful and friendly and who catered to our needs really quickly. We will be back.

An overnight stay for two adults in two double rooms. Rooms are cute, clean, tidy and ideal for an short stay. The food was the outstanding winner for us, with an evening meal which was excellent in presentation and quality and quantity. I had the roasted salmon. Beers were chilled and served promptly. Breakfast food, vegetarian and small breakfast, was again excellent in quality and quantity. Top marks to the kitchen for both meals. Service is polite but a little slow or perhaps just relaxed.

we had 2 rooms booked. 3 adults and 2 little girls. Rooms were comfortable and spacious. Despite having a party booked, the staff accommodated our request for a table to eat. Lovely food and plentiful portions. Girls enjoyed their food too. Really good value. Staff were absolutely lovely. Donna could not have done enough and is a great asset. Breakfast was freshly cooked to order and delicious. About 30 mins from Alton Towers and when we visit the park again, we will be re-booking- we had a great time.
