Hotel facilities runs down badly (presumably over Covid) but minimal work put in to reopening to a reasonable standard. Lawns half dead, gardens dirty, recreation equipment dirty and dilapidated (table tennis, pool etc), pools looks dirty with lots of leaves, literally zero staff at pool bar or restaurant (away from breakfast), no music, no guests so no atmosphere. We battled our way to get a drink and bowl of chips from pool bar our first afternoon - took an hour from staff who were trying best but had no training or English. And because 2.5km from Am Bang beach are basically trapped there. We were looking for a relaxing resort to chill out in midway in our 2 week sightseeing trip through Vietnam. We ended up sleeping there but relaxing at various beachside restaurants in Am Bang beach where there was more atmosphere than the ghost town. On the positive side rooms were large and well cleaned and the aircon worked well so the room was comfortable. And the staff tried hard. Only two had English to a workable standard. But given the isolated location and how far out of Hoi An, I was expecting well maintained grounds and a resort atmosphere. So instead we had the cost and inconvenience (at times could take 20+ minutes for taxi/Geab I suspect due to property’s remote location) of taxis to go somewhere less depressing. It seems they are trying to get tourist $$ in to fund the restoration of the property (rather than investing upfront). This is dishonest, and seems like it is not working as we saw 1-3 other guest groups per day in a 100+ room resort - they may well be in a terminal spiral down. I have never been to a resort like this with so few staff, so few guests and so poorly maintained (labour is usually cheap enough that gardens and facilities are spotless). SO DISAPPOINTED - please learn from our experience (until genuine reviews get better, which feels like will be months away).
