The Island & Fairfield

Stayed here for the Southern 100. Room was comfortable and a good shower. Quiet at night for a good sleep. Great breakfast. Went in the bar every night full of friendly people. Anthony and Celine made us feel very welcome. They were brilliant hosts. Definitely be back.

There is not one thing I could possibly fault about this place. Everything was perfect and my travelling companions would agree. Met with a smile and a good welcome from Celine on checking in and even a more further welcoming smile when ordering breakfast. Would we stay again.... without a doubt......Like i said....cant fault it. Thank you

A great place to stay, everything that was required, nice room with 2 windows. small but adequate ensuite. tea making facilities. A great breakfast, served every day. easy for public transport , a couple of minutes to the beach.

Perfect location a few steps from the Promenade and a bus stop in quite a quiet street, 10 minutes walk to the centre. Nice and helpful hosts, room big enough with a TV and an electric kettle + tea, coffee and some biscuits, the bathroom rather small but had everything you might need. Excellent full English breakfast. If I have a chance to visit Douglas again, this B&B will definitely be my choice.

My first visit and I was situated in the Fairfield. Upon arrival, you have to ring the bell at Fairfield. Is up a steepish road just off Douglas Promenade. Upon booking I was advised to give a time of arrival as it does not have a 24 hour check in. I was arriving on the late ferry which arrives in Douglas at 22:00 or there about. I mentioned this upon booking and received a thank you from the owners. On arrival, I was met by Celine, a very welcoming lady. She gave me the key for my room and apologised for it being on the top floor. Also told me I was free to come and go as I liked, the key a,so opened the main door. My room was up 45 stairs but was no problem to me as I’m reasonably fit. It was a twin room at the back of the building with a view down a back street. As I was not interested what the view was like it was fine with me. It was spotlessly clean and smelt fresh and the decor was nice and bright. The bed was very comfortable. The en suite shower room was very clean and the shower was exactly the same is my home shower! Very good. For breakfast, you have to cross the road to the Island Hotel, across the road and a bit lower. There was a choice of cereals and a good choice of cooked breakfast menus. Breakfast was served between 7:30 to 9:30. Very handy if you want a flexible start for your day. Upon departure, you are allowed to leave your luggage at the Island Hotel after checkout which is 10:30. As my home sailing was not until 15:00 that meant I could spend the morning out and about without having to lug my case around with me. Overall, a very nice place to stay and would definitely stay there again. Thank you Ant & Celine for an enjoyable stay.

If you are looking for large rooms with all the modern facilities with lifts to all floors and formal corporate hosts, then don't come here. This is the friendliest place we have stayed on the Island, good old fashioned hosts who make you feel welcome, like long lost friends. They remember everyone by name and will help with any problems you have. They have done the best they can with an old building, it is clean and tidy. The beds are really comfy and they supply fresh towels every day. The bar is cosy and craic is so good it's hard to leave. You can fill up on a good breakfast to start the day and there are a few restaurants close by on an evening. There's a bus stop at the bottom of the street, and it is dead easy to get around using the public transport.
