Gardiner House Hostel

It was much better than I expected. Breakfast, shower, and laundry were all decent, and I was able to cook my own lunch or dinner. Essential items like bottled water and towels could be purchased cheaply. I was worried about sharing facilities with people of various nationalities, but it turned out to be more comfortable than I thought.

I went to the same hotel with a friend and absolutely loved it. The room was clean, and the shared bathrooms, including the showers, were also spotless. The lounge was my favorite spot because it felt so comfortable and cozy; it was our quiet place to relax after all the walking around Dublin. I adored that the reception staff tried to communicate in Spanish. On the other hand, the buffet was pretty good. I thought there might be more options, based on my experiences at other hotels in Spain, but for a simple and peaceful breakfast, it was wonderful. I also loved the garden. My friend and I are long-distance, and I met him in person at this hotel. I felt warmth and comfort there. For having met my friend there, who I'm going to miss, and for the trust the hotel gave me, even though I'm not one to share a room, I will always be eternally grateful and will never forget the place. The hotel is a bit of a distance from the Luas station, located in Dublin Zone 1. I wouldn't go out at night, but the area seems safe enough in the mornings and afternoons. There's a Lidl about a 10-minute walk away. The kitchen here is free to use and has a fridge, microwave, and stove. The common area has a TV, and complimentary cocoa, tea, and milk. There's no air conditioning. I stayed during peak summer, and it was a bit warm at night, but they provide a tiny fan by the bed. No shower gel, shampoo, or towels are provided; you can buy them at the front desk, but they're a bit pricey. If you need a hairdryer, you can borrow one from the front desk by leaving your passport as collateral (which I found a bit odd). Soundproofing isn't great; I could hear neighbors opening their doors in the morning.
