I wrote the following email to the hotel upon check out, (14 days ago and no response) We booked a family room, as we had our little boy with us he is 4 and he could not reach the sink, you may like to consider in offering a child’s step when selling it as a family room so they can reach the sink and climb into bath. The shower curtain was not very clean and I didn’t feel comfortable when it was sticking to my skin whilst showering. See attached photo. There was no information given or provided in the room about the Wi-Fi. There was no TV guide on the television. No fridge in the room. One toilet roll for a family of three. No air conditioning We were notified that the swimming pool was closed which was disappointing but at least notified even though it didn’t reflect in the price. Breakfast was Luke warm buffet style so disappointing. The housekeeper knocked the door at 8.30am when we hadn’t checked out. I would like to mention we stayed at The Marriot in the centre of Birmingham on Tuesday night and this was a much better experience. All in all, it was a very disappointed stay.

The room itself has a microwave, cutlery/plates, fridge which is perfect! I sometimes prefer a takeaway in a hotel and keep some milk/fruit in the fridge for the morning. So it's nice that you can actually eat the takeaway with the right utensils and not risk leaving milk at room temperature all night.Loved the decor and idea of a communal kitchen to.Would definitely stay again if visiting the area.

Mercure Birmingham West is ideally located in the heart of West Bromwich, perfect for leisure and business stays. We are less than 5 miles from Birmingham City Centre and only a stone's throw from West Bromwich Albion Football Club. We're situated just off the M5, so you'll have no issues getting around if you want to explore further afield. At the end of a busy day exploring Birmingham, return to bright and spacious rooms to relax with a drink or bite to eat.

Let me start by saying I usually stay at The Village hotel but decided to give this one a try. This hotel as air con, the Village hotel does not. The location is great just off the M5, everything is easily accessible I booked a twin room, the beds were so comfortable as you would expect with a Mercure hotel. The room was decorated to a high standard and had everything you need to be comfortable. The only negative which might affect some people's stay is the bathroom, it has a mixer shower so the pressure of the water was very weak. I did speak to reception who informed me that in the near future this will be changed. The breakfast was delicious, if you want poached eggs just ask, they are happy to please. This is my now place to stay when visiting family in the midlands. Shout out to Gerry on reception who goes out of her way to make sure you have the best stay, she is a superstar! FYI in the Privilege room- you get a mini fridge and bottled water/juices and a modern shower rather than a mixer tap shower

There is so much to unpack here when it comes to Selina Birmingham. Never again am I staying at this hellhole of a hotel. For a name like Selina, the hotel sure is nightmarish to stay at. It's shameful that the hotel shares the same name with my non-biological/cosplay partner. There is no breakfast but at least, the bedding, the pillows and the duvet are comfy (but most likely due to the fact that I’m tired) and the wi-fi is decent. Unfortunately, this is where the compliments stop, especially when the dorm rooms are so dark, you have to turn on the flashlight on your phone in order to see. Not to mention, there is no television in the room I was staying in. To make matters worse, the dorm room is cold, coupled with no heating. I honestly don't mind the cold most of the time but the room temperature is too cold for my liking. Speaking of the ground floor, the Korean receptionist told me that I'm not allowed to eat my food at a table at the cafe and told me to climb the stairs all the way to the third floor in order to eat my food. It isn't fair, considering the receptionist with the short, dark hair tends to allow me to eat my food at a table at the cafe during the very early hours of the morning. I eventually lost my patience and yelled at the Korean receptionist. It's rare when I lose my patience. I threatened in a growly voice with, ”I suggest you fill the pot noodle to the top with water unless you want a scathing, negative review to be blasted on the radio for everyone to hear?”. Finally, she got the memo. The rooms, bathrooms and toilets and facilities are unsanitary (for example, there are biscuit crumbs all over the bed sheets. I didn't know until I got out of bed), the entire hotel itself is not accessibility-friendly as if the lack of a lift and the staff not being accommodating towards disabled people such as myself isn’t of any indication, the kitchen and the kitchen equipment on the third floor are dirty, there is no hot water in some of the bathrooms within the dorm rooms, the bathrooms and the dorm rooms are shared (therefore, there is no privacy), the lights keep turning themselves off if you’re idle (I’m more used to turning on and off the lights on my own accord), you need to pay £10 for a padlock which is complicated for disabled people and the list goes on. The toilets, bathrooms, kitchen etc are just as dirty as Badea Faulkner and Olive Allison Brown from the Avanzar House in Middleton, Manchester not cleaning up after themselves. And don’t get me started on the staff being problematic. They aren’t very useful to the point where I had to shout at them due to their language barriers and them not listening to me, let alone understanding me. This is troubling for autistic people like me. Never in all my years have I encountered such frustrating hotel staff members. Compared to the other hotels I've stayed at in the past, the hotel staff in these hotels were never infuriating. If a lack of staff doesn’t tell you the appalling

GGuest UserThe hotel was nice enough and the staff very friendly, the room itself was fine but there were bulbs missing in two of the lamps and another was broken. The bathroom was was good but the floating toilet did sound like it was falling off the wall when used. As the location was next to a few drive through restaurants the noise levels were quite load that side of the hotel, the other side might have been fine. If you can stay here as part of a deal then I would recommend it but not at full price.

GGuest UserI didn’t get the room I booked and paid for. I was travelling with my family, 2 of my sons have autism and I booked a suite with 5bedrooms so they could have a bedroom each and the rest of the family could be together. Also the suite had a lounge where we could sit as a family and my sons could have the routines we have at home. However we were moved to a different suite and I was advised that the room I had selected was being used on a long term rent and I couldn’t have it. This caused awful issues for my children and me to have to stay up all night to monitor them. There wasn’t any managers around to discuss the matter with and the service from the receptionist was awful. Just kept saying it will not be possible. I showed him my booking and explained why I needed the room I had booked and he just didn’t seem to care. The whole situation was just really upsetting. The rooms were clean enough, the showers were dreadful and there wasn’t enough crockery for everyone to have a drink or something to eat. The road noises were so loud at night even if I managed to go to bed I don’t think I would of slept! All night party went on the din of music played for most of the night. The suite we stayed in didn’t have a lounge or table facilities for my children to eat at. I have called the hotel daily since my stay and no manger will speak to me about my complaint or possible refund absolutely terrible customer service! The worst I’ve ever experienced! Wouldn’t recommend this hotel to anybody, save your money book somewhere else and probably cheaper for better!!
