We had a most delicious seafood chowder (the best ever!) in the atrium at Hardy’s Bar. It was served by our attentive waitress, Lorraine, who quickly and efficiently helped to make our first day in Ireland a pleasure. Our accommodation was comfortable and attractive and a short walk to the marina, maritime museum and quay.

I had an enjoyable afternoon tea birthday party and staff Krishna was brilliant and entertaining. The hotel lounge was cozy and the sea view was mesmerising. It was overall a lovely evening to celebrate my birthday. The food was tasty, although I prefer more choices with the sandwiches.

Attractive and well maintained building, decent sized room with all necessary facilities, good bar and breakfast room. Above all though, is the quality of the staff. Helpful, knowledgeable, pleasant, well turned out - the icing on the cake. My son and I used the Marine as a base for our trip over for a rugby match and would happily recommend it to anyone. But please get some veggie sausages in the breakfast room. I don't mind that I have to ask for them but vegetarianism is a common thing now.

We recently celebrated a family event in the Royal Marine and we were very happy with everything. The staff in the reservation office went out of their way to ensure that all rooms were booked and suitable for the various members of our party. We enjoyed our meal in the Dún restaurant and were delighted that it was so easy to chat there. The beds were very comfortable and many of the rooms were very spacious. We also loved the atmosphere in the foyer and the fact that we could come and go , meet one another there and find a seat or a group of seats as we needed. The location of the hotel is second to none and there is a great feeling of space and freedom. Free parking is a definite bonus. A big thanks to all the staff.

We stayed for two nights over Easter, with two kids aged 3 and 2. We arrived at 1.20, but check in wasn’t til 4. We came back at 4 but the room still wasn’t ready. The entire window room was booked for afternoon tea, so seats elsewhere were hard to find, and we had to stand and try to control the two little ones while we waited. Not a great start, but we were kindly offered a drinks voucher for the bar. Room was fine - double sofa bed for kids. It was an executive room, but sadly the view was of the back yard of the hotel. That was ok - we didn’t want to go on the balcony anyway, for fear of kids messing on it. The room was nice and quiet. Our double pushchair didn’t fit through many doors in the hotel. Even the ramp access from the front wasn’t wide enough. This is the first time I’ve had an issue with our pushchair. We had to leave it outside our room when we got fed up of collapsing it. Breakfast was good, staff all very helpful. Pool was nice and warm, but was a bit disappointed that half the pool was taken up by lanes, even during family time. That made it a bit cramped at times, but not bad, kids loved it. We ate in Hardy’s Bar - our host was really good, and I’m sorry for not getting his name. Food wasn’t amazing and they had run out of one of the starters and one dessert, though of course it was Easter Sunday. You couldn’t seem to just come into the bar and have a drink though, it was a bit too busy with diners for that. The Easter egg hunt was fantastic and the girls running it were great. Summary - our stay was fine, it was a busy weekend, so it may be that it is easier to find somewhere to sit in the lobby at other times.

My family and I were very well looked after by Myat at the Royal Marine Hotel, who provided us with tea and biscuits. Myat even helped us to even mark a family member’s birthday with a beautiful slice of cake. Thank you for taking such good care of us.

Was pleasantly surprised with our stay with myself and my daughter! The staff were the friendliest and nicest I’ve come across in a long time right from check in. While a little dated in spots it’s spotless and in an excellent location. Nice warm pool and lovely food in the bar. Will definitely return.
