Comfort Inn & Suites Goodearth Perth

I've been using Ctrip for 20 years, and this is the first time I've given such a low rating, all because this hotel is just so, so, SO dirty. In my 40+ years, I've never slept in a bed like this – it was short and saggy. There was no duvet, just a sheet wrapped around a very grubby blanket. The bedspread looked absolutely disgusting, so I kicked it off. But then it got freezing cold in the middle of the night, so I had to pull it back over me. The result? A blast of old, ten-year-old curry smell mixed with cooking oil fumes hit me right in the face. Thinking back now, it still makes me incredibly nauseous. For ¥800 a night, was it worth it? Absolutely not. And there's an even more ridiculous story: We had an afternoon flight the next day, and check-out was at 10 AM. We asked if we could store our luggage there while we went exploring the city. The guy at the front desk, an 'Ah San' (a common, somewhat derogatory term for South Asians in some parts of Asia), simply pulled out a key on a wire loop and told me to put my luggage in the luggage room myself. No receipt, no luggage tag. I asked him for a tag, and he just said it was fine to leave it like that. I was stunned at how casual they were – I mean, they charged me over ¥800 a night! This definitely counts as a 'memorable' experience throughout my trip.

The location is great, making it easy to get around East Perth and close to the Swan River. The room is spacious enough and comes with a basic kitchenette, including a fridge and microwave. There's also free parking for those driving, and the value for money is decent. However, the soundproofing is definitely weak. You can clearly hear people in the hallway, noise from the next room, and traffic from the street. Light sleepers should seriously consider this. I later found out many guests complain about the noise; perhaps it's a common issue in many Perth hotels? The facilities are a bit dated, but it's perfectly fine for a short stay or a quick stopover.

There's an underground parking lot, and you can take the elevator directly from there to your room. The location is great, with a 24-hour supermarket right next door. The hotel also has a small shop on the first floor, which is really convenient if you need to grab a drink or a snack. Lots of guests, and free parking is a huge plus!
