The location is fantastic, very central, making it easy to get anywhere. It's surprisingly quiet at night too. There's a lift, so you don't have to lug your luggage, but don't expect any staff to help you with it. The front desk staff seemed more interested in their own conversations and didn't really pay attention to whether you were waiting for them. Service for foreigners is pretty much non-existent. The self-service breakfast was decent and had everything you'd expect.

We had a wonderful stay! The hotel is beautiful, clean, and well maintained. Our room was comfortable and spacious, and the staff were friendly and helpful throughout our stay. We really enjoyed our time here and would definitely stay again.

Very close to the train station and all the attractions, which was super convenient. I only stayed one night this time because I was heading to the Highlands, but I'd definitely consider staying here again next time I'm in Edinburgh.

Laughable! This Hilton sofa bed looks like THIS?! Honestly the worst bed I've ever slept on in the UK. It was 2-3 degrees Celsius outside, and the hotel duvet was paper-thin. The air conditioning/heating barely worked, I was freezing!

The breakfast at this hotel is absolutely delicious, don't miss it – it was probably the best breakfast we had on our entire UK trip. The location is also pretty good. The only issue we had was that we didn't know where the elevator was when we left the train station, which made us walk a long way around. It would be great if the hotel could inform guests about the elevator's location when they're coming from the train station.

Fairly average hotel. Not worth the prices they charge. Emailed reception 3 times before arrival, not one reply. Room was nice and modern. Bed was comfy and shower was strong. Windows were only single glazed and looked over the train station which meant it was noisy even through the night. The executive lounge isnt really an executive lounge. Its just the breakfast room. Offering was fairly basic. Coffee machine didnt work much during our stay. On the lower ground floor so no windows. The old lounge upstairs was much better. Clearly cutting back on what they offer to save money. Breakfast was clearly designed for the American market. Crispy streaky bacon etc. Not what you normally get in the UK. Not the worst breakfast we've had but certainly not up to Hilton standard. Again, coffee machines not switched on so only standard coffee and tea was available, no cappuccino etc. Wouldn't stay here again. There are many hotels in Edinburgh that offer much better value for the price charged.

The location is super convenient, just a few minutes' walk from the train station. You can also reach the main attractions right around the corner. The room decor was cozy, and aside from the uneven floor, everything else was pretty good. Considering it's a renovation of an old castle, it's quite decent.

The overall experience didn't live up to the price. For a luxury king room costing over 3000 a night, the path to our room was ridiculous: first up to the second floor, then down to the basement (-1 floor), passing through a total of six doors, four of which were tiny, only to be given a room at the very end of the hallway. When I tried to sort this out at the front desk, the hotel's excuse was that they had no other rooms available that day! Yet, I found the exact same room type still listed on three different booking platforms. Even the Trip.com agent insisted there were no rooms, which is hard to believe if it's listed on three separate sites – if it was just one, I might understand it being taken down. On check-out day, due to the incredibly small lobby, we waited for the elevator for a good 10-20 minutes, only to find no available elevators we could fit into. My child and I ended up having to carry our large suitcases down the stairs! Aside from all this, when I tried to change rooms, the 'Chinese courtesy' they advertise (Trip.com should really amend this) was non-existent. There was merely a person who spoke Chinese, or more accurately, a Chinese person who acted like a European. When I mentioned at the front desk that the room didn't match the photos and felt like false advertising, this 'Chinese' staff member actually got upset. Shouldn't a guest be allowed to point out discrepancies between the booking and the actual experience? The way the front desk staff looked at me, their facial expression, and tone of voice, were completely unacceptable for a hotel costing over 3000 a night.

Good hotel from the infrastructure point of view, but was noisy in the night and very warm. The room in the top didn’t feel right, specially not for the insane price. I will never return… The people in the desk front were fantastic though.

The location is super convenient, but the front desk staff were quite cold. My room was on the first floor, very dark, and the windows were dirty. There was also scaffolding outside, completely blocking out any sunlight. It wasn't a comfortable stay at all.

My wallet was stolen with about £100 inside. I reported it immediately, but the manager couldn't do anything about it. Apparently, there are no cameras in the rooms, so the staff can do whatever they want. No one would listen to me. The explanation I got was that I couldn't prove what money was in my wallet. Seriously, beyond speechless. It's not about the money itself. What if it was my passport, a lucky charm, or something else important? Would you still do nothing? This is really bad; I'm never staying here again. They did absolutely nothing to resolve the issue. It's not like I'm short on cash, but who would dare stay in a hotel like this? Honestly speechless.

The hotel seemed close to the train station, but there's actually a significant elevation difference. You either have to take a long detour uphill or drag your large suitcases up four flights of stairs. The front desk staff was unfriendly towards Chinese guests; they indeed assigned us the furthest room. After getting off the elevator, we had to carry our luggage up and down steps and walk a long way to reach it.

The hotel's location is absolutely unbeatable, just a 2-minute walk from the train station. However, you have to climb about four flights of stairs to reach the lobby, which was a bit tough with luggage. The service was excellent. According to the front desk, there's an elevator that goes directly to the train station entrance, but my English wasn't good enough to find it. I tried again the day before check-out, and a very helpful staff member personally guided us there. I left a note in the room requesting a sheet change and more bottled water, and they wouldn't even accept the tip I left – classic old-school hospitality! These two points definitely deserve a huge thumbs up. I gave the facilities 3 stars because the bed was a bit saggy, and my back was sore after sleeping on it for four nights, but everything else was great.

The hotel’s facade was under maintenance, as well as the road in front of it. Outside of my room window I could see people on scaffolds right in front of me. Food was average, the service was subpar for a Carlton hotel (they agreed to change my room but never did). I chose this place for location, however to go to Waverley train station you need to cross the street and get down the bridge by the spiral staircase, which is not a good idea if you carry big luggages.
