Silver Lining-Royal Mile Apartments

The location cannot be beat. Right on the Royal Mile beside St. Gilles church. Full kitchen with a washer. Living room was quite spacious. Beds were comfortable and the appt was clean. The appt is up 3 flights of stairs. Good excise but doing it multiple times a day is tiring. No information on how to work anything. The internet connection was horrible, this is not a factor of proximity the router. Seems to phase in and out and not good enough to stream anything so you are stuck watching antenna TV for entertainment. No AC, which I guess for more Scottish days is probably fine but we were there during a heat wave and it was hot, keeping the windows open at night helped. The floors a squeaky in places, makes you feel like you are disturbing the downstairs neighbours. No artwork, just bare walls along with some scuff marks. Minimal effort to improve little things which add up: looks like there was a bathroom hook for towels but not anymore, shower backed up, windows have issues opening / closing, hot water heating is apparently on during certain times of the day (there is an override but again, no instructions so you find this out yourself). There was also a false attempt to provide comfort with an automated email on the first day asking for feedback. I provided feedback right away, some good, some not so good, especially about the internet. 3 weeks later still no response. Guess feedback wasn't as important as the email indicated.
