Destiny Student – Murano (Campus Accommodation)

The rooms are excellent and clean, but the soundproofing is terrible; it's like someone else is living in your room. Tea and coffee are complimentary. It's better to bring your own hairdryer. The rooms are small. There are supermarkets nearby, and the historic center is within walking distance.

This is unbelievable! I arrived at 10:40 PM, and the main gate was locked. You need a password and a card to get in. Seriously, I hadn't even checked in yet, so how would I have those?! Luckily, I'm quick-witted, and some other guests arrived, so I followed them in. Then I got to their apartment door, which was in a room just to the right after entering. I stood there for ages, and no one came to open the door, which also requires a card. There were a bunch of people inside, and they didn't even call a staff member to open it. And what was the staff doing anyway? Normally, there'd be a camera to see if anyone's at the door, right?! Eventually, I had to wait for someone else to come in and sneak in with them. Then, because I'd left my passport at the previous hotel, the staff member seemed overjoyed. He said he couldn't check me in without a passport. I offered my Ctrip booking number, but he said that wouldn't work either? He insisted on a physical ID! After arguing for a long time, I finally managed to check in using a picture of my passport from my photo album, and they charged a £100 deposit. I have to ask, what valuables in that room are worth £100??? This is a place where you have to buy towels, a tiny little space, and he really thinks it's worth a £100 deposit. I stood there for about 20 minutes during check-in while he was completely absorbed in his own world! Finally, he got it sorted and gave me a card! The environment is like a dormitory, but the soundproofing is absolutely terrible; you can hear the person in the next room breathing. Choose carefully! I'm starting to feel sorry for international students; living in a place like this, which is like a domestic guesthouse, and it's ridiculously expensive, almost 1000 [currency unspecified, likely local], for this level of quality. What a rip-off!

Self-check-in online was convenient, and the front desk provided towels, toiletries, tea bags, and earplugs. However, the earplugs were completely useless. The soundproofing was practically nonexistent; you could clearly hear conversations from the next room in the middle of the night and the sound of luggage being wheeled around. The butterbeer in Edinburgh was delicious and highly recommended.

The service was enthusiastic, and the environment and location were excellent, making it an ideal place to stay for independent travelers.
