Hotel is newer and still smells new in many places. Everything was clean, staff was friendly and helpful and the experience was good overall. I loved that coffee was available all the time. Breakfast was pretty basic but decent.

We chose this place because it was pet-friendly, drive-up, and convenient, although at first glance, we weren't sure because of all the trucks lined down the street. It turns out it's popular with transporters who are moving RVs from Elkhart to other destinations. The motel was one of the best of the 20 motels we stayed at during our cross-country trip. It was clean, comfortable, quiet, and safe -- and had great grass for our dogs (a rarity). We'd definitely stay there again.

Our stay was OK until I reviewed my credit card statement. I asked my wife after she checked in how much they charged for the dog. She said ”nothing”. When she checked out, she did not receive a receipt, but we didn't think anything of it because we had gone through Hotwire to book the room. When I reviewed my credit card charges for our Trip I saw that for one night we were charged $75.00 for our 15 lb. dog! They never mentioned the outrageous pet charge, the most we've ever paid by $50.00. My advise is do not use Hotwire or any Hilton chain hotel if you own a pet. They advertise as 'Pet Friendly', but certainly are not 'Wallet Friendly' or 'Customer Friendly'. When I called the hotel they were unsympathetic and simply said that was the charge given them by Hilton for one to four nights, ”Sorry”. Simply Outrageous!!!!!

Overall a good stay. I would recommend this hotel. Easy check-in and check-out. Comfortable room. Great beds and pillows. SO MANY OUTLETS. Wonderful, however, no USB charging ports, so bring your converters. A/C and heater are old-school under the window style even though there is a thermostat on the wall. Odd, but worked well. Be careful with the bathroom counter. I didn't think about it, but they use bleach on the counter. Excellent for sanitation and cleanliness, but I placed a sweater on a wet spot and ruined it. The breakfast is the standard fare, but the eggs were quite salty. A few minor notes specific to our room: We were in room 209. The door doesn't naturally close fully. The shower doesn't drain very well, but the water gets quite hot and it had good pressure. The television has the typical Marriott choices, but it was constantly cutting out. This made it hard to follow what was happening and was quite frustrating. The wallpaper in the bedroom is separating from the wall at the seams. Minor issues aside, it's a very nice hotel.

Had low reviews and recent complaints of bugs in the room. But with limited options available elsewhere we decided to give it a try in hopes things were resolved. To make a long story short. The toilet didn't work, place smells like an ash tray, tiles are loose around jacuzzi, stains all over furniture, ceiling, and walls, TV intermittently worked, didn't honor advertised pricing, breakfast was not ideal and very limited. The resolutions they gave to the issues were a dirty plunger to try and unclog the toilet ourselves (all we did was pee in it) and a business card to file complaints.

We came into town for our first visit to watch a show at The Lerner. Beautifully restored theatre and neat area to explore with Mishawaka and South Bend a short drive away. Hotel is a new, well cared for hotel with plenty of restaurants and bars nearby. My only word of caution is to be prepared for much higher preauthorizations then you might expect. We planned a long weekend and stayed for three nights. Our credit card was preauthorized for the entire stay before arriving which is not unusual; however, when we arrived, they ran it through again for the entire three day stay. I asked about it and was told one of the preauthorizations would drop off…it did not during our stay. Upon checkout a few days later, I mentioned it yet again…they responded, sorry, the extra preauthorization will not be removed until 2-3 days after checkout. We don’t carry balances on our credit cards so not a huge deal for us, but certainly something others may want to be aware of as our entire stay was charged twice.
