Extremely comfortable and not noisy, despite being in the rail station square. Clean and well maintained. Room price gives free travel within Erfurt (bus, tram, both very close). Extremely good breakfast (cereals, breads, fresh fruit salad, yoghurt, bacon sausage and scrambled eggs, croissants, cake, cold meats, cheese). Tip: the Senior Citizen rate includes breakfast, also for a younger partner.

We were at 13.10.23 in the hotel for two nights. We chose the hotel because the experiences in Tuttlingen in the same hotel chain were very positive. Unfortunately, I cannot affirm that from Erfurt. The hotel is conveniently located with tram connection about 4 km outside the centre. The rooms are relatively small and there is no separate bathroom and toilet. For two days the room size is just enough, but there is no barrier. The service is very unmotivated. You can notice this already at check-in. In the restaurant you need to expect very long waiting times and also at the bar it is only very slowly moving forward. We just wanted to drink a beer in the evening and we waited for our drink over 45 minutes. Inadmissible for a four-star hotel. Although the rooms are not cleaned at weekend as we have been told, the sauna is not also available from 10:00 to 15:00 because the staff are needed to clean the room. All in all, the hotel is very expensive with the overnight price, especially since the service is incredibly restricted. We will not decide again for this hotel in Erfurt.

a very nice hotel, in the center of Weimar. Polite and helpful staff. Room was splendid, Breakfast was great. I hope I’ll come back one day. and they have these little cards with quotes from Goethe, Schiller, etc. it‘s a nice touch. there‘s no room service

We stayed in this hotel on two separate nights bookending a trip to Frankfurt. This hotel is not - in our experience - typical of the Mercure brand. Far too often Mercure's are in good locations but somewhat rundown, tired and in need of attention. This is quite the opposite. It appears to have been wholly refurbished in the last five years, it is looked after. The hotel is conveniently situated near to both the old town and the main, new shopping area, both being no more than five minutes walk away. It is a ten to fifteen minute walk from the railway station or (for us) a €10 taxi ride. There is paid for car parking if required. This is a deceptively large hotel, the short frontage belies the fact that it has 141 rooms. The hotel stretches back from its frontage - we felt it was long and not very wide. It is spread over four floors and possibly an attic. We were on the fourth floor for our first visit and on the first floor for the second. Entry into the hotel from the street leads to a small reception area with ottoman seating. Screened from reception is a small bar and another soft seating area. The bar had elusive opening times - but seemed not to operate before 18:00 hours. Service was good. There is a restaurant that is not the breakfast room but that was not open during our stay with no sign of opening on the horizon. All public areas were clean, tidy and well maintained, albeit with a Alpine overtone! Access to the upper floors is via dedicated lifts or stairs depending upon the location of the room, with some rooms there is quite a walk to the lift. There is a small garden and paved area with seating. We saw no specific provision for disabled access but believe that the hotel is easy enough to negotiate. There is a separate breakfast room which works very well albeit it is not large. It is at the furthest end of the hotel from reception and bypasses some of the meeting rooms. Whilst these rooms were used during our stays we experienced no difficulties. We took breakfast early and the restaurant was never full or cramped. Breakfast is generous but prettty standard continental fare. Our first room (413) was a standard room and disappointing although it was clean and well cared for. Our second room however (136) was an upgrade and provided exceptional space and comfort for a reasonable price. Had we been able to satisfactorily understand the room descriptions and attributes on the website a room such as 136 would have been our preference. It had a large and comfortable double bed, a small seating area with table, a separate desk along with the usual accessories of a safe, TV, wifi etc. We didn't try the TV but everything else worked. There is no aircon but there is very effective radiator heating. We can imagine that opening the windows for some rooms would produce a great deal of street noise, but both our rooms were towards the rear of the hotel and quiet. We spent 3 nights in the hotel at the castle park and were very satisfied with the entire hotel offer of this owner-led business. Breakfast and dinner were good to very good, the service very friendly and professional. It is also important to highlight the good location with short paths to the attractions and the old town.

This hotel is really somewhere special. From the minute we arrived to leaving we experienced extremely professional, friendly service. The lovely young lady at reception, the smiling, friendly bar man and the lady at breakfast were especially kind and helpful. I wish I had taken note of their names. The hotel itself is really beautiful, wonderfully maintained, and located on scenic Marktplatz in the heart of Weimar. Our brief visit was so memorable and we can't wait to return some day. Ill firever remember a wonderful breakfast on their outdoor terrace! Treat yourselves and stay there.
