This is a historic building that dates back to 1548 and has gone through 11 owners. Today it is a spa hotel The hotel sits on a large piece of land, with herds of cattle and sheep in front of the door. The restaurant on the other side has a great view of the lake and a large meadow. Rabbits and squirrels often jump around in the meadow and forest. You can reach the lake through a path, or you can hike in the forest. From the elevator, you can feel that the hotel has a sense of age. The spa has a constant-temperature swimming pool, a cold pool, a hot pool, and an outdoor hot pool, facing a large area of grass and woods, which is really pleasant. The only thing to note is: if you check out at 11 o'clock, you must go to the spa before checking out. After 11 o'clock, there will be an additional charge of 20 pounds per person.

Booked a table for 9 for my mum and dad's 60th wedding anniversary. I had to amend th e original booking and the deputy GM Richard was very helpful. We had an evening meal and the food was superb. They looked after mum and dad and all of us (6 adults and 3 children) and made us feel special. An amazing experience in a winderful environment. Highly recommended.

Speaking on behalf of myself and my family, our time was well spent in the Armathwaite Hall Hotel and Spa. From the massage treatments, the spa facilities, the amazing food and wonderful staff, we walked away with both smiles and frowns on our faces, as we had such an lovely time that we didn't want to leave so soon. The resident cat was also a delight. A massive thank you to Richard and his tremendous staff, we most definitely plan to visit again.

Visited Armathwaite Hall with 2 friends and had a lively afternoon tea. The staff were friendly and relaxed but totally professional and quietly efficient. The tea was really good and it was a great treat for my friend who required gluten free to have a truly excellent choice including a top notch scone! It really made the experience a day to remember .

Booked a hotel and spa package a while ago and the communication straight after was excellent. Contact from the spa and advice on the right package as this was a surprise break for part of my wife’s 50th birthday celebrations. On arrival the hotel and grounds look stunning and we were greeted by smiling reception staff who had upgraded the room for us, thank you for doing this. The loft room was superb as was the whole experience, restaurant service, bar service and any passing staff always had a smile. The spa experience was just fantastic and the massage from Julie and Olivia expertly delivered. To finish off we decided to visit the adjacent Lake District wildlife park, again a great experience. Thank you to all staff and management for making this stay so special for my wife.

We went for the Sunday dinner and to check out the place before coming for a wedding next year. The views from the lakeside restaurant were brilliant and the staff were so friendly. Richard was very kind and gave us a tour of the facilities and was very informative about the local area. The rooms were all beautiful and we can’t wait to come back.

I recently celebrated my 60th Birthday with Sunday Lunch with my family and extended family. We found the food to be superb, and the atmosphere calm and relaxing. We have dined here on occasions before with our friends who live in Bassenthwaite, the last time was in December when I found the atmosphere to be a tad stuffy and pretentious. This time our experience was so different, much improved! There is a new manager Richard who couldn't have made us more welcome. Charming and effervescent , he took time to speak to each of us and even emailed a few days before to see if he ifbthere was anything he could do to make the occasion special. I was allowed a special desert, and a small cake with a candle and was serenaded ( Paul Potts eat your heart out). Even our friends who come quite often said the atmosphere had changed for the better. We had lovely cocktails in the bar ( although they need to visit Greece to learn how to make a lumumba!) I hope to come again to try the afternoon tea ( or stay if my numbers come up! ).

Around our 10th stay at this classy escape. Paid for a basic bed and breakfast and got upgraded to a huge suite. Leisure absolute top notch as always and managed two hours after we checked in and an hour before breakfast. I am currently vulnerable to infection so we were given breakfast in a private room. Top quality food and service. We love this place and recommend to all our friends.
