Mr. Zhang (house owner) can pick you up and give you transport service anytime you need. The wife (lady house owner) can cook delicious & healthy food for you with reasonable price as well, it's very yummy and fresh. They can also pick you up from Beijing Capital airport with reasonable charges if you need it. They are very warm and kind host. Although they are Mandarin speaking people they can communicate thru goggle translate. The son also can help as he can speak English. I feel at home in their guest house. The area has barbeque and noddles shop. The neighborhood is good and the environment is refreshing. If I will be given a chance, I'll definitely comeback & stay in this guest house.

PPatrick ThomasI stayed in this guesthouse in 2010 and again in 2024 and I would highly recommend it. The service at Zhaoshi Shanju Guesthouse was tremendous, the rooms are clean, and the location is perfect for any Great Wall hiking. The breakfast at the guesthouse is good and the corn congee is made with the corn grown by the family hosts. Dinner was delicious and had vegetarian options for my wife. The journey to get to the guesthouse from Beijing is definitely worth it (take the 916 Express from Dongzhimen in Beijing to its terminal and then take a taxi).

The room on the second floor was very large. There were two rooms on the first floor. We were younger and lived upstairs. The location of the house is about 5 minutes drive from Gubei Water Town. It is surrounded by homestays and there is free parking.
