Re-energize and reconnect in this quintessential Chester County farmhouse. The Buck Run Farmhouse was built in 1767 and is believed to have been part of the Underground Railroad. Beautifully situated on over 90 acres of forest and fields for hiking, bird watching, and exploring; Historic Buck Run Farm is the perfect place to retreat to!!Three story 5 bedroom, 3 bathroom home with living room, sunroom, and library. Outdoor spaces include brick-paved dining areas, a SoloStove, a Breeo firepit, and two decks as well as a grill for guest use. For kids we offer some basic sports equipment such as a net, a few assorted balls and some various outdoor games (think corn hole, etc.) The perfect place for a group trip or family reunion! Guests have access to the entire first and second floor of the house as well as two full-size bedrooms on the third floor with beautiful views overlooking the farm. Guests are asked not to enter the basement or attic spaces. We have mechanical equipment in these locations and they are not intended for guest access.While guests are welcome to explore the property, it is important to note that parts of the land are actively farmed. We ask that guests are respectful of these areas and recognize that they do not have exclusive access to the outdoor spaces. The house is reserved for guests only unless your group books The Barn for their venue space also. The barn is off limits to guests without prior permission from Host. There are many raised thresholds and narrow doorways as well as very little flat land in the outdoor spaces - all adding to the character of the well-appointed home but not easy for wheelchair access or walkers.Please be aware: there are Ring video doorbells on the front and back doors as well as monitoring the barn and pond. There are NO internal recording or listening devices. Our newly renovated Barn venue is now open and available for bookings also. Previously 1 of 5 public schools serving the rural community, located on a quiet road with beautiful forests to explore and a working farm with fresh organic produce. You'll experience a romantic and cozy stay that is close to Longwood Gardens, Cheslyn nature preserve, and local wineries.The school house is directly attached to a full time residence of 2 farmers, one little farmhand & 2 friendly dogs that you are most likely to meet upon arrival. This is a working residence complete with a lively yard full of free range chickens, ducks, and sheep. Everyone is friendly but please be mindful of the electric fence that keeps our livestock contained. Along the property is almost 50 acres of forested land with cleared paths for your enjoyment. The forest borders our 2 acre organic food production that you are also welcome to visit. You might hear us going to and fro as we are a working farm. This property was acquired by our family and the schoolhouse has been completely renovated in 2023. We are happy to welcome guests to enjoy our little piece of history. The area is full of activities that is guaranteed to suite everyone's interest. We are down the road from ChesLen preserve and Northbrook canoe company, both places you can spend the day on the water or immersed in nature or a moments drive from downtown West Chester, where you can grab a drink and do some shopping. We are surrounded by delicious food and only an hour from the city life of Philly, truly the perfect balance of city and rural life.Guest accessYou have full access to the school house which is complete with full kitchen, bathroom, sun room and cellar that contains a washer/drier. The patio out front has a bbq, tables and chairs. There is also a firepit for your enjoyment.The attached stone house, backyard, garage and barn are private. We ask that you avoid venturing behind the stone house as to keep our farmers yard private. Additional visitors to the schoolhouse are permitted with host approval.
