Woodcock Inn

This place was DISMAL. We had a 2-night stay booked and left after the first night. Descriptors I would use are old, tired, awful, uncomfortable bed & pillows, holes in duvet cover, very little hot water (no matter how we turned the taps in the shower). There was NO reception in the morning, so we had no way of calling a taxi to get us outta there. Thankfully, there was a mechanic shop next door, so we went there to use their phone. They told us, that the place isnt even really a hotel, but rather it is used more like a lodging place for trades people who work in the area, and are from out of town. About the only positive thing was they agreed to refund our 2nd night when we got the booking site that we used involved in getting that refund. We also ate at the restaurant, and the food was good, but this review is for the hotel. Avoid at all costs even if you need cheap accomodations... unless you literally don't care. Rarely have I ever sought recourse on a poor choice, but I based my decision on the booking site I used & totally forgot to ck tripadvior site ratings. The ratings on the other site were quite high. The ratings here are lower, but still too high in my own opinion.

My en-suite room was basically furnished but clean. Everything worked. About 15-20 minutes from LGW and therefore handy for an overnight stay before an early flight. The Gurkha restaurant downstairs is excellent if you like that sort of food.
