This place is perfect to stay and let me explain why.
1. It’s located 20 meters from the tourist center car park. Meaning almost car access with only short 2 min walk to the guest house. It is then another 50 meters to the river side.. making it a perfect stay for those who wants convenient and yet peaceful quite without the bar music blasting til 11:00pm
2. The owner was super helpful and with early communication through Trip.com auto translate app, we were able to communicate effectively and he came to the carpark drop off to pick us up after we hail an ehailing ride from the train station.
3. Check-in was breeze, easy and so is check out. The guesthouse owner helped us get a ride back to the station.
4. Right next door there’s a local restaurant that serves breakfast which was super convenient.

First and foremost, the hotel's service is truly excellent. As soon as we got out of the car, staff members were there to greet us and help with our luggage. They also provide shuttle service to the ancient town. The room facilities and amenities are all very complete, and the hygiene is top-notch. When you open the window, you're looking right out at the Tuojiang River, and the view is beautiful. You can walk through the lobby to an outdoor path, perfect for a stroll, making it ideal for seniors, families with children, and couples. The hotel even upgraded our room type, and since we were traveling with elderly parents and children, they also arranged for a complimentary send-off to the station. Additionally, the ancient town explanation service on the second floor was very thorough. The price was fantastic, with no hidden tricks or unpleasant surprises. I genuinely recommend this hotel.

GGuest UserSuch a pleasant stay! The room was spacious and spotless — one of the cleanest hotels I’ve ever stayed in. The beddings were comfortable, and the location was perfect.
The only downside for me, which I didn’t really mind, was the view — it’s only a partial river view, but still quite nice nonetheless.
Just a heads-up: you’ll need to climb a few stairs to reach the homestay, and there’s no elevator, but the staff will help carry your bags. The lady at the front desk was really kind and patient, taking time to explain the ancient city through a translator app. They also offer a free one-way pick-up or drop-off from the railway station.

GGuest UserThe B&B is located in the lower reaches of Tuojiang River, away from the noisy bar area. It is very quiet whether it is night or day in the ancient city. There are many small bridges and flowing water around, which are suitable for taking pictures in Miao costumes. There is a cruise ship pier downstairs (but it seems to be closed). The room is quite comfortable and spacious, and there is a free pick-up service to the station, which is very convenient. The service at the front desk is also very enthusiastic~

From the moment I arrived, the experience was seamless and kind. The manager had even shared directions with my taxi driver to help me find the hotel more easily, and someone came to pick me up right at the entrance of the city — such a thoughtful touch!
The hotel is well located, and my room was spacious — a little worn, but very comfortable with a nice view.
What truly made the difference was the manager’s exceptional kindness. He helped me plan my itinerary, assisted me in booking my bus ticket, and even drove me to the station himself. He waited with me until the bus arrived — such generosity is rare and truly appreciated.
A heartfelt thank you! I highly recommend this place for its comfort and genuine hospitality.

3300923****We chose this panoramic B&B for our two-day trip to Fenghuang, and it was great! Just as described, it's one of the few B&Bs in Fenghuang Ancient Town with a full panoramic view. Plus, you can drive right up to the entrance. The landlady, in particular, was incredibly warm and helpful. Before we even checked in, she provided us with all the different ways to get from the high-speed rail station, along with estimated prices, which was very thoughtful. We opted for the #1 bus, which took about 20 minutes to Qifeng Square, and then it was just a few minutes' walk to the B&B.
Gu Li B&B itself was super clean and tidy, with spacious and bright rooms, and all the amenities you could ask for, including a smart toilet. As soon as we arrived, they had drying facilities ready for us and even gave us a two-day travel guide. We had some lovely chats, and it really did feel like returning home. It was fantastic!

Room is clean and big. Bed is very firm and comfortable.
Shower room is on the other side away from the basin and toilet and there are no hooks for the towels.
Breakfast is buffet style with simple spread.

Although it's not in the absolute heart of the ancient city's main attractions, Fenghuang Ancient City isn't that big, so everything is within easy walking distance. You can reach Hongqiao and the stilt houses in less than ten minutes by heading south from the hotel – those who enjoy city walks won't find it far at all. If you're coming to Fenghuang by high-speed rail, the special line bus from the high-speed rail station to Qifeng Square stops right at the hotel entrance. And if you're joining a day tour arranged locally, most of them also gather at Qifeng Square, so the transportation is very convenient. The rooms are equipped with an 'Xiaodu' smart speaker for controlling devices, and the hotel breakfast is quite varied. The housekeeper was very thoughtful, sending check-in instructions to my phone for easy reference.

MM332728****The environment here is fantastic! The hotel room was spacious and spotlessly clean, with a beautiful decor. Each room has a unique name, and we absolutely loved ours, 'Jian Shan' (Seeing the Mountain). It's very close to the old town center, yet the guesthouse surroundings were completely quiet. Plus, there's an elevator, which was super convenient!
As for the service, the guesthouse owner was wonderful. They contacted us beforehand to arrange airport/station transfers. The restaurant they recommended was so good that my friend and I ate there two days in a row! They even brought us fresh fruit on the day we checked in.
The breakfast at the guesthouse was amazing, especially the rice noodles – absolutely delicious!

GGuest UserWe had a pleasant stay at this hotel. The location is great—slightly away from the main tourist areas, so it’s peaceful and less crowded, yet still very convenient. There are plenty of restaurants and convenience stores nearby, making it easy to find food and essentials.
The hotel faces the river, offering a nice view, and you don’t have to drag your luggage over any rocky paths—the car can drive right up to the entrance, which is a big plus.
We stayed in the rooftop room on the 4th floor. While there’s no elevator, the staff were very helpful and carried our luggage up during check-in and back down when we checked out. The owner and staff were all friendly and accommodating, which made the stay even more enjoyable.

Mmakia11It’s a wonderful place to stay. The room is spotless and beautifully decorated with great attention to detail. The bed was very comfortable, and the heating worked perfectly in cold weather. The location is also excellent.
The only downside was the bathtub area, which looked different from the pictures. In reality, it has a half-open window instead of a full-size one, so in winter, cold air comes in, making it too cold to take a bath. But in spring or summer, it must be a great experience!
All in all, we had a wonderful, cozy stay and would definitely recommend this hotel!

- at the top of a BIG hill (it says elevator is provided but it only brings you to the start of what are a VERY long climb of stairs to your room)
- nowhere did it say the room would only be accessible via stairs (saying they have an elevator is very misleading), only because I read a review which mentioned there were stairs did I make a special request to have my bags kept at reception as I wouldn’t be able to bring them to my room. Even though I booked and made my request in advance (via Trip.com’s process when booking), they did not even read it so I had to deal with this problem once I arrived.
- wiring in the shower (not sure if it’s save or not, but made me uncomfortable)
- due to my tier level with Trip.com I was told I would get; late check out, room upgrade and free breakfast. When they checked me in and I asked about breakfast they told me that I didn’t have it included. After showing them I did, only then did they actually look at my booking - terrible. I then asked about the room upgrade as the hotel was not fully booked and they said that this was the room upgrade… it was not, this was the room I booked (which is fine, I just don’t appreciate being lied to when you clearly didn’t look at my booking).
Overall thoughts:
- if you only have one small bag that you can carry with ease, then it’s great
- if you have large/multiple/heavy luggage don’t book here! You can get a day ticket to walk up the hill (where the hotel rooms are) for pictures of the view
- Trip.com please get this hotel to actually look at the bookings made and to honour special requests and tier privileges where possible
