Gellihaf House

We stayed for 2 nights as a base to visit family. An absolutely stunning property and wonderful hosts in Catherine and Howard. Room was large beautifully decorated. Be warned - the breakfasts are FANTASTIC! From homemade bread, muffins and full Welsh breakfast- perfect start to the day! We travelled by train to Hengoed - about a mile walk across the valley on a country lane, very easy and also walking distance (10/15mins) to a pub and shops. Looking forward to basing ourselves there on the next family visit!

Such a beautiful place to stay, from the initial wow factor on arrival to the warm welcome we received from Howard and Cath. Every last detail has been fully considered to give guests a truly comfortable stay here. The bedrooms and bathrooms are very well appointed, the breakfast was delicious with endless food choices and the dining room itself is a real treat to dine in. I would have zero hesitation recommending this hotel to anyone. It’s a very special place indeed. Thank you for looking after us so well Howard and Cath xx

We recently stayed at Gellihaf House when we travelled to visit family close by - Cath and Howard were the perfact hosts , looking after our every need. The house itself is a restoration marvel and Cath gave us a full tour of the building - the photos of before and after were fascinating. They are rightfully very proud of their place and it is just fabulous. The breakfasts are delightful and we will definitely return, sometime not too far away.

What a lovely stay we had at Gellihaf guest house. Cath and Howard made us feel so welcome during our stay, they have a beautiful home, very cosy accommodation. Breakfast was lovely, the fresh Welsh cakes were delicious. Gellihaf Guest house is in an ideal spot to visit Cardiff a 20 minute walk to the local railway station. We loved every second that we stayed in the two nights we stayed at Gellihaf House. Catherine and Howard were really so very lovely and welcoming, and even though we live nearby it felt like a little home away from home. The bed is really very comfortable, the bathroom is immaculate and the house itself is stunning. Then there's the breakfast - so good! A shame my eyes were bigger than my stomach as it was a lovely cooked breakfast alongside a continental breakfast bar. Genuinely one of the nicest places we've been and we can't wait to come back soon.

This is such a high end, comfortable, and beautiful place. The rooms are top quality with a view of the garden below. The garden even has a fountain. We stayed here three nights and enjoyed all of it. Howard and Cath are very welcoming. Both of them liked to visit but also left you to yourself. If I were ever to return to this area, this would be the place I would stay.

We stayed at Gellihaf House for the first time after our son and his wife recently relocated to Wales. We were warmly met at the door by Howard and shown to our large fantastic room (The Taff) overlooking the garden. This recently renovated house built in the Arts and Crafts style is an absolute joy, perfectly decorated and furnished, but with all the amenities you come to expect in the 21st Century. Delicious classic home cooked Welsh breakfasts are served in the tasteful dining room to the accompaniment of modern classical music which added to the ambiance. A beautiful sitting room is available for all guests to relax in anytime of the day, and is full of wonderful military objet d'art. Howard and Cath are the perfect hosts and we very much look forward to staying here again using this as the perfect base to explore this wonderful part of Wales. Janet and John
