We stayed in the basement apartment (quadruple room), for four nights in May. The apartment is enormous, with two large bedrooms a separate kitchen and bathroom. It is an old building and many of the original fittings have been maintained, including a huge marble sink in the kitchen, and redbrick ceilings. There are windows in all the rooms, but the apartment obviously does not get much natural light as it is in the basement. The main hotel is about 200 metres away, and you can have breakfast there or avail of other facilities such as a lovely garden and a generously-sized pool (to cold to use in May). We found the apartment to be very quiet and comfortable, especially the beds (queen size) and we were perfectly warm. In another review a guest complained about a damp smell, but we did not find that to be the case. Also guests complained about the noise of the electric door into the main building, but this did not bother us, it was a very faint noise from where we were. We had one cleaning issue, but the hotel sorted that out very quickly and efficiently. The staff were extremely polite and pleasant and the breakfast was good too. The location is also great, a five-minute walk to tram line and very near the railway station and the Duomo too. We felt perfectly safe walking there at night. The only complaint I have is about the bling art in the rooms, it would be better to take out the glittery paintings.
