I stayed here for 4 nights while doing work in Fort Portal. It was an absolutely wonderful experience. Everyone was so welcoming, from the moment of arrival to the moment we left. The rooms were spacious with a large bed and mosquito netting. The restaurant was also fantastic as we ended up having almost all our meals here. So much so, they knew my breakfast order by the 3rd day! I will definitely return next time I'm in Fort Portal.

If you are coming through beautiful western Uganda, and plan to stay in Fort Portal, I would highly recommend the Dutchess hotel and restaurant. Not only are the rooms extremely clean, but they are very large, pleasant views, and the food is amazing. For Westerners, please note that they wash the food, including the salads, with purified water. I also cannot say enough about the management and the staff at the hotel, both of which were wonderful. The manager accompanied us to a local printer shop, and the staff was nothing but fantastic. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone.

We have stayed at the Dutchess Guesthouse many times and can recommend it without reservation. The food is delicious, the rooms are great and we always feel very comfortable. If we are able to travel to Uganda again, we will definitely stay there again.

Friendly and helpful staff, very good restaurant and breakfast, cozy rooms and a beautiful garden. This place was definitely one the of the best hotels during our trip through Uganda! Very good value for money

I ended up here after walking away from a bad situation and I needed a place to get my head together. I initially arrived for one night and ended up staying four! I stayed one night in Kibale, a double room which was lovely and then moved to a suite for 3 nights. The hot water was wonderful, everything was clean, and comfortable. Staff were just lovely! Owner Helen and her husband were really friendly even though busy. Food is amazing. Chocolate Mousse (thank you Helen) was just the best. The ice cream was the best I have had after 20 years in Africa!!! The chef makes mean poached eggs too. Just go, it's perfect, it's a lovely place to be, everything is there a few minutes away, the bank, supermarkets and everything you need. The four season pizza was really good too. Just so many good things to say about this place and nothing negative at all!!!!

We love this place. The staff is very friendly and so kind. Great restaurant and bar. Rooms are good, not luxury but everything you need as a lovely shower and enough space. For us it was a pleasent stop after only camping. A little oasis.

A tranquil, comfortable, well run hotel. I’ve stayed three times now and it’s my favourite hotel in Uganda. Just the right blend of comfort, atmosphere, food and friendly staff. There is a good choice on the menu and the pizzas are the best in town. The rooms are really pleasant and the internet good. It’s just got the right blend of the best of African hospitality.

We had a god stay in the hotel. They also have a restaurant and we have eaten there on numerous occasions. It has always been very good. As in the restaurant, the hotel pays attention to small details. There were even desk lamps in the room and most hotels in Uganda do not have them. The bed was very comfortable and if we needed anything the staff were right there and were very pro. The noise level was lower and the site is located off the busy streets in Ft Portal. We know the owners very well and they are wonderful. Breakfast came with the room. The pricing was pretty normal.

Excellent place to stop for lunch. Very quiet and peaceful with a leisurely atmosphere. The patio and the garden are beautiful. We saw many birds while waiting for our lunch. The menu is great too with a lot of choices including croc meat. although we were not brave enough to ask for it. The chilli oil prepared by the staff was absolutely wonderful. The pizza was superb.
