We had a wonderful time staying in a Villa at the Augustus. The staff was very responsive and attentive. The hotel's room service and restaurant amenities are very good. Again, very good service. We look forward to using Augustus Hotel for our next trip back here.

The service at Augustus is spectacular. Our stay was perfect. We will be returning next year! We are especially grateful to Stefano at the concierge for all of his help to ensure we had the best experience. When Lufthansa lost our luggage at Pisa airport, Stefano spent 2 days tirelessly working with the airline and airport to track our luggage and get it to us. He even arranged a taxi to go and pick our luggage up from Pisa airport so we didn’t have to waste our time doing it. Stefano is the best and so is the Augustus Hotel!

I was booked into the Augustus Hotel for 2 nights. We own a home in Tuscany and habitually takes two days here and there in Tuscany. I pre-paid EU2,100.00 and was expecting over two days, 2 lunches, 2 dinners and booze, about a further EU2,200.00 (I love my wines) All fine and as expected. Total expected around EU4,300.00. I was suggested to book a beach lounger / chairs etc. All fine. Then I was told I was to pay a further EU360.00 and a mind numbing EU60 a day for the showers on the beach. "You have to be kidding" I remonstrated. I have stayed on multiple occasions at the Spendido, Portifino, Sand Lane on Barbados for example and never asked to pay this sort of services. I expected, as per the web site, when booking, apart form all drinks and food and of course the Spa if I used it, to pay; not to pay these services. According the website, these are positioned. as value included with guests services. So back and forth came these arrogant emails. So, I said, I will cancel. So they said - okay. Then they refunded me. So.... they lost, EU480.00 on the beach; at the expense of a total of circa EU4,300.00. I am a businessman. Staff management like this, would not last long , working for me. Avoid like the plague.

Great service and location. Good breakfast. 1 out of 5 because the Wi-Fi is completely unacceptable. It cannot sustain a voice call let alone video. Bandwidth drops in and out constantly. I’ve tested across multiple locations including bedrooms, restaurants, communal areas. Tested with multiple devices. They give you a qr code for the menu at the bar and the Wi-Fi isn’t even good enough to download the menu. Makes doing a few work calls while holiday very stressful. Went to the Byron next door and worked perfectly so clearly an Augustus issue. Particularly important given the location of hotel has patchy mobile reception so can’t fall back onto 4/5g. We paid 5* peak season price for a 6 night working break and leaving more wound up than when we arrived. Totally not acceptable for a 5*.

it was the best and an unforgettable stay. I was with my family and it was what we all needed for a quality family time. Staff is amazing from the reception to the restaurant. They are always ready to give you an help with a specific attention to details. Special thanks to Enza at the Front Desk . She has been amazing and very helpful to make our stay unforgettable . We will definitely comeback next summer!!

We arrived late at night in August for a 4 night stay with my family. We had been told over the phone during the booking process we would be staying in the main hotel but were instead put in the dark, damp, noisy outhouse (Augustus Lido - 3star quality). We spoke to the manager duty manager Francesco who could not do anything but charge us more to stay in the main hotel when we were already paying over €1,000 per night. We were then told the hotel restaurant was full until 9.30pm and were offered instead to have room service. Not what you would usually expect from a hotel of this price and quality. It is a shame because the hotel has great potential just the way you are treated as a first time guest is horrible.

Ordinarily, I don't like to read about other people’s gripes about their hotels experiences, but on this occasion I feel compelled to share ours at The Augustus in Forte dei Marmi. I have stayed at a number of 5-star properties but have also stayed at hotels below that level, so I know the difference. Though it lists itself as the former, the Augustus is not a 5-star property! The staff and service personnel are perfectly fine; they are not the problem. It is the hotel’s basic approach to service that falls short. Its philosophy is "tacky.” When one is paying 1,200 Euros per night or more, it is offensive to be asked to pay for amenities, such as 280 Euros per day for a spot at their beach club or 10 Euros extra if you want an omelette from their included breakfast. I point to these 2 examples because they illustrate things — large and small — as the types of extras one may anticipate if they choose to stay there. As for the cabana, the hotel touts its access to the beach guests at The Augustus and its sister property, The Hermitage. Neither of the hotels is on or has a view of the water. Since we arrived prior to the 3 p.m. check-in time, we went to the beach club for lunch only to be told there was no availability for us at the beach restaurant and were relegated to the menu at the beach bar. Needless to say, we made a lunch reservation on the spot for the following day. When we returned to the hotel for check-in, we inquired about securing a cabana for the following day. The concierge said we would have to make the reservation at the beach club and suggested we should take the shuttle back down to the beach and speak to someone there. Sensing my displeasure with that suggestion, she called down to the beach club for us and relayed that none of the cabanas we desired near the water were available and that, to secure the cabana, we would need to sign a written agreement agreeing to the 280 Euros payment — even though they had a credit card on file for the other amenities. We spent the next at our designated cabana — away from any real view of the water or any breeze while the majority of all the desirable cabanas remained vacant all day. These are just 2 examples. There were others of similar import, but they evince a small-minded and petty philosophy that took away from my group the enjoyment of our time at the hotel and in Forte die Marmi. Front desk personnel unhelpful with normal Service requests. Asked for a lunch reservation and a cabana on the beach the day we arrived and we’re told to go back to the beach and request it ourselves. Room was tacky and had no closet. Only a curved bar with a Curtain. USB ports by the bed didn’t work nor were they able to provide a plug adapter for a razor. Nickeled and dined us at included breakfast if we wanted an omelet. 10 euro more pie person. Very disappointing and not worth the $. Express laundry was triple the price without any warning. Stay anywhere else.
