Nothing you want except expensive

Pretty poor experience. Room smelt of cigarettes and there’s basic and then there’s just bad. Mismatched old furniture. Had to sleep with the balcony door open because of the smell. In a nice area and walkable to the main city. Everyone helpful enough but wouldn’t recommend.

Me and 2 friends were happy with the overall quality, location, value for money and cleanliness of the hotel. For this trip it really was a place to shower, sleep and plan the day from and it ticked all those boxes. Staff were friendly enough and we had to have a bulb changed in the shower room that was done in 5 minutes.

I was booked into the Hotel Elbe next door for one night, but they claimed they'd had a leak and put me and my friend in rooms in the Hotel Garni instead. My room was on the first floor which stank of smoke. The room wasn't very clean, there was only one plug socket which didn't work and worst of all there were dark red stains splattered around in the shower (see pictures). It was very noisy outside (there are a lot of drug ******* etc outside) and very warm in the room. There was no towel so I went to reception to ask for one but the guy first said no, then said it'd be an hour and-a-half wait. I didn't have that long so said I was going to the Hotel Elbe to get one which he wasn't happy about, but what could I do? He did charge my phone for me for a while, which helped.
