Kaneyamaen is such a beautiful hotel - everywhere you turn, there’s something lovely to see. Also, I can’t recommend the staff enough!! Everyone was so gracious and pleasant, and our dinner server was a delight to converse with even with my limited Japanese skills. By the way, the included dinner is an 8 course meal — I didn’t know that when we booked. No complaints here!! The rooftop hot spring was a highlight, don’t miss out on that. I would recommend taking advantage of the free yukata rentals as well. There were more amenities than I had time to engage with, so if I could do this trip over again, I would definitely plan to stay for more than one night. Keep Kaneyamaen at the top of your list of onsen hotel options!!!

Overall, it was good. The faucet in the room needs improvement. It's odd why they'd use a water-saving faucet with an automatic sensor—it's really inconvenient and should be fixed. The daily hotel performances were excellent.

The hotel was a pleasant surprise with an unexpectedly rich array of activities. Hidden in the back garden was a large, beautifully manicured Japanese garden. Sipping Japanese matcha while gazing at the small bridges and flowing water was incredibly relaxing. The taiko drum performance was incredibly energetic! The young performers had amazing stamina, drumming, dancing, and chanting all at once. During the intermission, they even invited children to join in and drum to the rhythm. I later found out it was a performance put on by the hotel staff themselves, which showed so much love and dedication. There were also bingo games and piano performances, and even one-year-old kids got to wear cute little yukatas! 🫰 From the room, we had a view of Mount Fuji, which was still covered in snow in March. It was cold but stunningly beautiful. The only minor downsides were that the rooftop open-air onsen with Mount Fuji views was open to women only very early in the morning, and we didn't get a chance to enjoy it due to our schedule. Also, the food might not have been the freshest; after all, fresh seafood isn't exactly a mountain specialty. While we didn't experience vomiting or diarrhea after eating, we did feel a bit off for two days.

I booked a one-meal, two-night stay. The food was decent, but nothing to write home about. Breakfast was a buffet. The hotel is very large with comprehensive facilities, including a lounge and spa, so you won't get bored. However, the cleaning was truly terrible; hair on the floor was completely ignored. The large public bath was quite comfortable, but you had to constantly hold the shower faucet open. The service was alright. I booked a mountain view room, but it didn't directly face Mount Fuji.

This is an excellent Japanese hotel, and a long-standing one at that. Most of the guests are Japanese, and the dinner, which is a Japanese set meal, is quite exquisite. I highly recommend this hotel.

Yamanashi Lounge: You can taste local specialty wines here. Facilities: The garden landscaping is very elegant, and the hotel wonderfully showcases local cultural characteristics and Japanese culture, with yukata and hot spring experiences available. Service: The service was very warm.

The staff who greeted us escorted us to our room and even observed our body types to provide the right size yukata. Every service member was smiling, and when we left, they saw us off at the door, waving until our car was out of sight, which was very touching. The Japanese aesthetic was evident everywhere.

We are a group of four ladies who stayed in Suite 841, and we couldn’t be happier with our experience at Kaneyamaen. The breathtaking view of Mount Fuji from our room was truly unforgettable. The entire environment is serene and calming, and we felt warmly welcomed at every corner of the hotel. Everything is impeccably maintained and spotlessly clean. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Kaneyamaen to all my friends, and I definitely hope to return for more relaxation therapy in the future. Thank you, Kaneyamaen, for everything!
