We loved this hotel, the room was amazing with a gorgeous view, the breakfast was delicious with a wide variety, and the pool area was great. Would definitely recommend!

Grievously overrated! I arrived at the hotel around 12:30 PM. Check in time is 2 PM. I ask if they have a clean room available. They said they can have one shortly, and to come back at 1. I come back at 1, and they tell me it's not ready yet, despite what they previously said. And now they say to come back at 1:30. I return at 1:30 and it's still not ready! They tell me to come back at 2, which would have been the normal check in time anyhow. I was informed by hotel staff through email that parking is 10 euros at night. But the front desk tells me its 13. Then they tell me they surcharge for EVERYTHING other than breakfast. If you want towels or robes, they charge you to rent those. They charge you each night to use the in room safe. What is it they don't charge for? A matter of fact... they offer me a complimentary welcome drink at the bar. I ask if I can get bottled water, and the bartender says the welcome drink can only be alcoholic! ***? You mean to tell me that water is a more expensive overhead for the hotel than alcohol? The final straw for me was when overcharged me for using the sauna. Yes, they charge for using the sauna or Turkish Bath too... It was supposed to be 5 euros per person, so we should have paid 10. And they charged me 14 instead. There is an older woman at the front desk who is particularly not helpful. I don't know why anyone would want to stay here when they nickel and dime you A la carte for EVERYTHING. The only positive thing I can mention about this place other than the location, is the breakfast. I will give them credit for serving very healthy and tastey food in the morning, but that's about it.

We really enjoyed our stay at Baia Azul. This hotel has everything! Gorgeous views from the lounge area, a lovely bar with entertainment at night, excellent service, lovely comfortable rooms, and a very nice pool area. We cannot fault it! The breakfast was also lovely. Would definitely stay here again!

Hotel has great location, amazing view and pretty good rooms with balconies. The only thing is some problems with ventilation system in the kitchen so in lobby and in the main restaurant you can smell everything they cooked.

Great hotel The room we booked was not the basic room as shown on your site, but when we arrived at the hotel they said it was due to the price. So paid 24 more for nothing.

The hotel is conveniently located for traveling by car. Almost across the street is a shopping center. There are many shops nearby. Spacious rooms, huge balconies. Cool varied breakfast with champagne. The hotel has many beautiful photo zones with views of the ocean and the sunrise! Luxurious terrace! Outdoor pool and jacuzzi are not with ice water, we went in the winter without any problems. In the indoor pool, the water is much warmer, but there is a strong smell of chlorine. Upon arrival, they give out cards for a welcome drink at the bar located in the lobby. It was nice. Once we went to dinner, which is served as a buffet. But we did not like it. It was not as tasty as we would have liked. The only negative we found was paid parking in the underground garage! Why not make parking free for guests? But, I must admit, for a 4 - go stars Hotel is very good! I recommend!

Very satisfied, good service, good welcome, beautiful swimming pool and beautiful view from the room

There is a balcony in the photo when booking, but in reality there is not. I am very disappointed. If there is no balcony, I will not consider this hotel! But other facilities and services are very good. You can listen to music and drink in the lounge or lobby at night, which is very atmospheric. The restaurant environment is very good, and you can have breakfast while looking at the sea. The food is also delicious, and the staff is very friendly.

Hotel well located very close to the center of Funchal. Good facilities and availability of staff.

Great big hotel. Lots of German pensioners. Very good location - on the ocean, next to a large shopping center Forum and Formosa beach. Bus 1 or 2 takes you to the center of Funchal in 12 minutes. Breakfast is very varied, but queues for coffee after 8 am. Pass on the floor with stunning ocean views, you can sit outside. Didn't like the pools - with a beautiful view, but shallow, waist-deep water everywhere. Only for children. Air conditioning only works for cooling - it was cold in the room.

We had the most wonderful stay at the Baia Azul bed and breakfast the views were lovely and the hotel was spotless. Breakfast had everything you could think of ..I loved the pastel de natas And the lovely chef lady even kept a tray for me one morning as she knew they were my favourite the maitre de was so welcoming. We tried their Italian restaurant one night and the food was delicious. The bar area is also immaculate and everyone was so friendly and accommodating the lovely lady behind the bar in the afternoon organised the most delicious cake from the kitchen for us ..she was very kind ...the cocktails were out of this world. Unfortunately I caught a sickness bug whilst there ..I dont believe it was related to the food in any way the staff were very helpful and the lovely cleaning lady came to clean my room. The hotel has loads of great restaurants in the near vicinity And the free shuttle bus was very useful ..there is a great shopping centre and supermarket nearby..I also loved the walk to Funchal in the morning . The pool area was spotless and there is a lovely indoor pool . The only fault I would suggest warrants improvement is the sunbeds, they are rather uncomfy ..I'd suggest the hotel purchasing the memory foam ones and the pool was sadly so cold 🥶 I could only manage in once ..this is a huge thing for me on holiday as I love to swim ...please 🙏 can you increase the temperature in the pool please ...for the older And the very young clientele it's just too cold to enjoy and everyone struggled to go in ..I think that if you did this you would be 100% perfect hotel . Despite this I booked to go back next year even before I came home..the reception staff were so lovely thanks again to you all for a wonderful holiday

Probably the best Hotel out here! The staff of the Hotel were really friendly and warm welcoming us every day. I have to give props to the waiter Saiful, the coolest and nicest waiter I’ve ever met. He was so nice and offered me tips and told me locations where I could go. Also the boss Marco is a really nice guy and very funny. All in all the hotel is a must have if you want to visit Madeira. Nice location, near the beach. In addition to that, the hotel is just meters away from a shopping center. The rooms and the meals were absolutely amazing. The buffet is full out of delicious food. If I ever come back to Madeira, I will stay at the Baia Azul. It’s perfekt for couples and families. So it’s an amazing allrounder. And because of the waiter Saiful, you have to meet him!!!

We absolutely loved our stay at Baia Azul. Beautiful hotel with spectacular views from the terrace. Breakfast was spot on and never too busy. Always space at the pool. Top quality service from all the team. We are really happy that we chose this place over some more pricey options. Top tip: there is a gate which leads from the pool area to the seafront path, very handy!
